I'm about to apply for a Non B, and it looks like my school will be sending me to Suvannakhet. What are the best days to go there ... if there are any?

Cheers.

For me it would be much easier and a better trip to go by night train to KL or Penang. I don't have any TV's in my passport and I only have two 30 day entries with one extension?? (I'd rather commit suicide than take a 7 hour bus trip, or trains planes and automobiles).

For Penang or KL you would need a valid police clearance certificate from your home country to apply for the non-b visa for teaching.

Vientiane and Savannakhet will accept a Thai police clearance.

You could apply at Vientiane if you have a week or so to make an appointment in advance and take a train from Bangkok Nong Khai if you wanted to. Or fly to Udon Thani and then take a van to the bridge in Nong Khai.

You could use a fly/ride service to Mukdahan and the cross the bridge the Savannakhet. Check Nok Air (more flights via 3 airports) or Air Asia.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Savannakhet are the best days since the visa run vans will not be there.

It's always best to go where your school says, they have internal affairs with lots of offices. Go towards the end of the week that way you don't have to rush back.

Have been to KL many times in the past. I'd prefer to drink a quart of caster oil than go there or Penang for immigration requirements, just saying...  Savannakhet's good, just follow Ubonjoe's advice.

Go by tour bus to mukdahan bus station overnight is super smooth and transition time for over border bus and consulate opening times also perfect .

It one of simplest and less time and money wasting visa trips you can do.

Unfortunately the usual messy visa run companies have know made it a typical mess and tuesdays and wednesdays likely best days for 2 day turn around or fridays if want stay weekend and collect monday (hardly anyone goes on a friday .
