Lately various topics come up advising us on how cheap it is or much you save if using a Casino Bus and do the rest yourself, at the same time the same person start a topic about problems encountered by individual person who , appearantly, used up their 90days allocation and can not exit , because they can not re-enter.

IMHO the Thai Official are very fair and point this out to the traveller.

I have also read the amount of bribes it takes to pass ,so these person paid a high price .

I think the VisaRun agencies ask for a fair price , THB 1,900.- to THB 2,000.-, one company goes to PoiPet/Aran , while 2 other companies go even further to Ban Laem .

Some people had to do a trip to PP for a Tourist Visa because they were stuck at the border.

My visa run to PoiPet today was bitterly dissapointing. I wont mention the name of the company I used, but its the same company iv'e always used and enjoyed and recomended to others in the past. Weather or not their service is worse because less people are going due to the new visa rules, I dont know, but it felt like they were trying to save every baht they could! They even asked my wife for an extra 100 baht after we arrived at the border!

That was my last visa run anyway as we will be leaving soon, and it was very dissapointing, I really liked the visa runs every 90 days to PoiPet, but not todays trip.....................

The immigration officers at the Thai Out and the Cambodia In and Out were snails! They were so slow and some people took 5 mins to get processed! The lady who stamped me back in to Thailand was very nice and made the trip a little more enjoyable.

So yeah, maybe the do it yourself way is a good way to go, at least you can arrange your own itinerary.

Why don't you want to mention the name of your visa run company? It would be useful to lots of people here to know in advance what is the level of service you can expect in advance from different companies offering the service. Especially if, as you suggest, the trend could be a decrease in the overall quality of service. I hope you'll kindly share with us the details of your experience :o

Well, just do a search on his user name, and check his old posts and what he has written before.

And the answer to your question? It starts with J. and ends with f.

Im glad to see that someone know how to use this forum :o

I was charged 2000 THB as usual which I have no problem paying, but as 2000 is pretty much the max you will pay for an organised visa run from BKK to Poipet, I would expect to be at least comfortable on the long journy and expect not to not be asked for more money from, when we already piad the normal/ agreed price.

At the casion during lunch (While I was in the toilet) my wife was asked for an extra 100 baht. She to9ld me that they said that she did not pay enough. I told her its only 100 baht and we will pay it to shut them up, but this will be the last time we we use the company. I also told her to ask why yesterday we were told 800 for her and when we paid they only asked for 800, why are theuy asking for 900 now? I felt because there were not many people they were trying to use the farangs Thai wife to make some tea money. Once, they waited again untill she was alone, while I was waiting in an immigration line she already cleared and she paid, just to keep them happy. They diissaperad before I was out of the line and when I found them and asked why we had to pay more after after paying the agreed price, they said, "The priced changes all the time" I said "Yesterday we were told 800 for a Thai, when I reserved our seats on the phone, so did the price change overnight?" they did not comment, then I jokingly asked for a reciept and the look on their faces was priceless! They were not happy, so I smiled at them. They made us un-happy to too bad to them if they didnt liked being questioned about ripping us off! We were actually gonna go back on a casino bus or the train, but we decided to catch the small van because it was quicker.

So yes, that is my report. I undrstand why they used the vans in stead of the bus because there were only 18 people, but I think it was wrong to try to squeez a long time customer for some tea money during desperate times for these companys.

If one person does not use this service because of my post, then they will loose alot more and that extra 100 they got from us would be worthless!

Thanks Lop, and Aussiestyle for taking the time to elaborate on your experience with this visa run company. So, this company is Jack Golf. And mentioning their name will now make this post searchable (among others) for whoever would like to get real life information on them.

that was because you had a Non-Immigant visa, she didn't have to count many days you've been in Thailand.

Just came back from a another 90-day-hop, used J G as usual.

The changed visa-rules sure have changed the scene dramatically. Normally there would be some 30 people on the busses. Now, much like last timer around new year, we were 7 people. 6 Koreans and me.

When we arrived I saw the longest 4-line-cues ever. Well over those 3-hour monsters one would fear. Luckely those were thai's only. We walked by, entered stamp out and got treated to our own line, freschly opened. (Yes, past some other farangs in another line, about 30 people.)

In, eat, then back and stamp in(!) into Kambodja (again led past everyone cueing), stamp out, stamp into Thailand. Then ride to BKK.

We were back some minutes past noon.

Some poeple will squeese every bath until they are blue and then waste it on beer...I prefer comfort. And being home quickly.

The new regulation , valid for entries AFTER the 1.10.2006 affects only people entering Thailand on the 30-day visa exempt stamp , which is NOT a Tourist Visa as many think .

The regulation stipulates that visitors can only spend 90 days out of every SIX-MONTH period on the visa-exempt stamp. Days spent in Thailand on any kind of visa do not count towards that 90-day total.

Further, Immigration only counts the days actually spent within Thai borders, as long as you don’t exceed 90 days in a SIX-MONTH period, the number of visa-exempt entries are unlimited.

Please calculate your days very carefully. There is NO emergency visa allowance at the border.

Following scenario is possible : get a Tourist Visa at a Embassy/Consulate in a neighboring country which is valid for a stay of 60 day , after that period you can apply at the BKK Immigration@ Soi Suan Plu for a extension of 30days for THB 1,900.-.

A Tourist Visa will always be extended for 30days.

Extension of a Visa exempt stamp and any Non Immigrant Visa will be granted for 7 days only.

After this you can do 3 x 30 days Border runs and apply again for a Tourist Visa or you can extent any of the 30day visa exempt stamp at a Immigration Office .

Please remember you are allowed to stay only 90days with a visa exempt stamp (3x30days) in any SIX-MONTH period starting after your first entry since 1 of October 2006. Each entry counts !

To plan your trip to Laos please refer to the Office and Holiday Schedule for Year 2007 of the Thai Embassy and Consulate in Laos.

http://www.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/about_officetime.html

To plan your trip to Malaysia please contact the Thai Embassy and Consulate in Malaysia directly , they do not have a webpage.

If you are not sure about the days you have spend in the country please pm me and give following specific and complete information.

Example:

1. Entry @ Airport 11.10.06 exit @ Ban Laem 9.11.06, 30days, visa type: visa exempt

2. Entry @ Ban Laem 9.11.06 exit@ Mukdahan 7.12.06, 29 days, visa type: visa exempt

Enter @ Mukdahan 8.12.06 exit @ Ban Laem 5.2.07 , 60days, and visa type: Tourist Visa

Extension Immigration Office for 30days , THB 1,900.- , extension until 6.3.07

3.Entry @ Ban Laem 6.3.07 permission to stay until 4.4.07 , 30 days , visa type : visa exempt

Immigration will allow this person back into the Country with a 30day visa exempt stamp on 10.4.07.

This person has now two possibilies .

A: Get another Extension (THB 1,900.-) for 7 days at the Immigration and re-enter Thailand on the 10.4.07 with a 30day visa waiver stamp to start a new SIX-MONTH period with 3x30days border runs .

B: Apply on/before the 4.407 for a new Tourist Visa.

We recommend that you apply for the extension at the Immigration Office.

Visit a Thai Embassy/Consulate twice a year to get a Tourist Visa, or going legal is set to get easier.

Foreigners can convert their 30day visa exempt stamp to a Non-Immigrant Visa by going to the Immigration Department with the proper documents and 21 day stay remaining, meaning you have up to 9 days time after your entry. Application fee THB 2,000.- .

Please note that your Passport needs to be valid for at least another 6 month for any Visa application.

Further info on MFA webpage : http://www.mfa.go.th/web/12.php

All Embassies/Consulates in SEA will issue only Single Entry Tourist Visas.

I believe it's more than twice a year.

If you get a tourist visa (2 months). Extend for 1 month. = 3 months total

Visa exceptions: 3 times = 3 months

If you get a tourist visa (2 months). Extend for 1 month. = 3 months total

Now, you CAN NOT GET A VISA EXCEMTPION, you're last one was within 6 months from now! (in bold)

Where did you get this from ?

You can extent any visa or visa exempt stamp , even a Tourist Visa can be extented twice , one time for 30days and a second time for 7 days, provided you pay each time THB 1,900.-.

I got it from the 90 days within 180 days rules that are posted on the boarder.

I'm trying to say be careful about 2 visitor visas in 1 year. Isn't it more than 2 a year?

You can't do this: Visitor visa 60 days, extend for 30, 3 visa exemptions for 90 days, visitor visa for 60 days, extend for 30, 3 visa exceptions

The bold part is the problem. Just a warning that's all. They wont give you a visa exemption in the last part because its within 180 days of the last visa exemption.

Jack Golf is not run by Mr. Jack anymore, and he left the company a while ago. I won't be surprised if the quality of their service is changing. Edited by think2

Just to confirm.

An extension of a Tourist Visa is not included in the 90 day ruling. Is this correct?
