U.S. FDA approves formula for fall 2025 COVID vaccines
May 24, 2025 The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday issued new instructions to COVID vaccine manufacturers regarding the next round of updated COVID shots. In a document posted on the FDA website, the agency said COVID-19 vaccines used in the United States starting in fall 2025 should be based on JN.1 lineage strains, preferably the LP.8.1 strain, which, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, currently accounts for 70% of US COVID cases.... The current US COVID vaccines use the KP.2 strain, which is within the JN.1 family of variants. ... The VRBPAC recommendation is similar to the position of the World Health Organization's COVID-19 vaccine composition committee, which said on May 15 that JN.1 and KP.2 vaccines are still appropriate, but LP.8.1 is a suitable alternative. acces denied to enter in thailand
On May 16, 2025, I arrived in Thailand from Barcelona, but immigration officers denied me entry, and I had to return to Barcelona. Last year, I was in Thailand on a student visa, but before it expired, I had to return to Spain due to a family emergency. I notified the school, but I knew I wouldn't be returning soon, so I assumed my visa would expire and I would lose it. I left Thailand in December 2024, and five months later, immigration officers asked me about my visa from last year. When the immigration officer questioned me, they asked me to name the Thai alphabet, and I could only name a few letters. I guess they thought I didn't study or that I was working in Thailand. They didn't put a stamp in my passport or clearly explain the reason they wouldn't let me in. I tried to enter with a "visa on arrival." I had an exit ticket and enough cash. Now I don't know what my situation is. Could it be that I'm banned from entering the country for a certain period of time? The agents I've contacted recommend that I do a "fast track" procedure, but I don't like that option. I want to do things right without shortcuts or bribes. Could anyone who has been through a similar situation give me some guidance on how I should proceed? Thank you. I already contacted the Thai embassy in Spain, and they told me I had to contact Thai immigration. I've contacted them and am awaiting a response.
