Ignorant comes to mind, but what is surprising is that he made this comment in the year the number of gays expelled from the armed forces he commands has dropped percipitously. Double ignorant.

Is this an Issue for Pride Festival to get involved in?

Should the community show solidarity with our Gay brothers in arms? Outreach across the globe?

Is there to be a demo outside the US Embassy by the committee with a transgender show dressed as the Andrews Sisters?

I am sure it will be on the agenda at the next meeting.

(Struggling to make this relate to Thailand, if that's even necessary): What do the Thai generals say? Actually, we had a long thread about whats-her-name, the drafted Thai soldier who got a less than perfect discharge (mental disorder, wasn't it?) for being gay in the Thai army.

General Pace has 'regretted' his remarks but not apologized or said he's sorry, or changed his opinion.

During the Vietnam war, some potential conscripts would do most anything to get out of the military. During their physical exam, they wore bras and panties, for example. They get to spend sometime with a psychiatrist though.

The military didn't buy and they got a free trip to S.E. Asia anyway.
