I gather that if you get a new passport here and are on a visa, you can just show both passports on exit. But if you're on extension of stay, you have to have the stamps transferred. I was wondering if you were on an extension with just a few weeks left and didn't plan to extend again, could you just leave?

Where exactly does the procedure take place at Suwanaphum, and how long does it take? Presumably the IO in the booth has neither the time or stamps to carry it out.

If you don't get the stamps transferred there is no procedure, you will get the departure stamp in one of your passports and should be good to go.

The will only transfer your current permit to stay stamp from the old passport to the new passport and stamp you out of the country in it.
