Khon Kaen Zoo in Khao Suan Kwang district has added a new attraction this month to its collection of exotic wild animals. Blooming fields of colourful Siam tulips are now competing for visitors’ attention with white lions, tigers, orangutan, camels and white rhinoceros. The combination of wildlife, wild flowers and the million-year-old mountainous landscape makes for an unbeatable tourist destination, says zoo deputy director Wanchai Sawasu. A newly opened natural stone park with secret spots to discover adds to the fun. This week also takes on a spiritual atmosphere at the zoo-cum-wildlife park, which is marking the start of so-called Buddhist Lent on Wednesday. Visitors are flocking to the zoo’s Sila Mani Buddha image to offer prayers ahead of the beginning of the annual rains retreat on Wednesday. The religious festival lasts for seven days, with worshippers marking the Thai tradition of paying homage on the day of the week on which they were born. The entry fee for foreign visitors is Bt150, (child Bt70) and includes admission to the Water Park. Entry is free for children under 120cm, adults 60 or older, the disabled and monks, while students and government employees pay Bt50. Burma Bill
The Zoo and Water Park are definitely worth a visit, especially for the kids!. They are situated off Route 2 about half way between Khon Kaen and Udon Thani.
Almer
There they go again charging more for foreign visitors so count me and 2 other adults and 3 grandchildren out, i have invested several million baht here over the past 5 years and monthly bring in more than a thai worker enjoys in 1/2 a year which is spent in the local economy, i am lucky to be in that position but overcharge me and you get nothing.
