Hotels and TM30s

No passport

Had a first-time experience:

Arrived on foot to the hotel, bellboy greets me and we stand in the lobby having a conversation.

Suddenly a lady, a staff from the front desk probably, shows up with the check-in form and asks me to sign it. I sign and she hands over the room keys, says I can go directly to my room without formally checking in.

Later find out that this quickie check-in is for VIPs and returning guests. No need to show a passport or provide a credit card for a deposit or for blocking your expected bill.
