webfact Posted July 31, 2019 Share Posted July 31, 2019 Second accident kills cyclist injured in 2015 drink driving case Thai caption: Repeat accident Sanook reported that Thais online from cycling groups in Chiang Mai were saying goodbye to a well know member of a bike club in the north who was killed on Sunday. Acting Sub-Lt Suraphon Tasingh, 60, was killed while cycling on the Chiang Mai - San Sai road in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was a member of the "Tigers" of San Sai cycling group. Sanook reported that he was one of the people injured in 2015 when a drunk university student plowed into cyclists on the Chiang Mai to Doi Saket Road on May 3rd of that year. The student killed three people and injured two - one of them being Suraphon who had recovered from his injuries and was back in the saddle. Only to be killed in this second accident. But Thaivisa didn't bother with it; seems they're taking over where the Nation left off, in writing things that raise more questions than they answer. * The driver was a local man, driving a sedan car. * He stopped after the accident, waiting for authorities and emergency services to arrive. * They checked for alcohol, but he was found to be free of alcohol. * The family forgave him, it was an unfortunate accident but not unexpected. San Sai is a district not a road...., i ride every Sunday morning in Mae jo or Mae rim areas.....less vehicles than a week day and less alcohol use or should be...
