just been turned down for my married extension

I just been turned down for my married extension at pathum thani immigration.

The reason I got refused was be my last extension was processed and approved in jomtien.

pathum thani immigration told me to go to savannakhet and get a new fresh  non O visa based on marrage.

Here's  a little background to my visa history for the past 15 months

I arrived in Thailand on a 30 days TM6 on 24th May 2018

I then had a agent in pattaya to sort my non O imm based on retirement which give me 15 months in total

In june 2018 I moved to pathum thani,  I went to pathum thani immigration you file my TM30 all ok.

Then and ever since I done my 90 days check at pathum thani

But today immigration said because my non O imm based on retirement was processed and approved in jomtien

I cant renew my extension in pathum thani I got be leave Thailand and do a border run.

There, possibly, is the key to your problem....an agent was involved.

He is changing extension types from one Non-Imm Non-O reason (retirement) to another reason (marriage).   There is nothing wrong with this.  If married to a Thai and over 50, either is permitted subje

Look on the bright side - it'll be a day out !

Maybe because you are changing your status from retired to married you need to start

the process again, would you be able to get the extension based on retirement renewed?

Very annoying, but there’s not much you can do other than go out for a new visa.

Do you meet all the other requirements, seasoned funds in bank etc ? Maybe they require a TM28 to official change where you live.

No IO said because my O imm visa was processed and approved in jomtien I couldn't renew

in  pathum thani, IO told my wife it don't matter what extension  I was going to apply for.

yes, we spoke to a agent for help, agent said the easy way around this is to do a visa run and get a fresh new O imm from laos

When the agent in Pattaya handled your retirement visa/extension, was everything kosher, squeaky clean and above board?

If not, it is not surprising the Pathum Thani (Sam Khok) office was unable to help you. Take a few days off for a nice trip over to Mukdahan and on to Savannakhet for a new 1 year  "O" based on Thai Wife and then you can have a nice refreshing border run every 90 days.,

So you’re trying to get an extension based on marriage to a visa based on retirement?

sounds flakey.

Yes, it makes them furious when another office gets the cut.  That local office got nothing - only those further up the chain share in the bounty.

The "go out for a new Visa" is against regulations - not that this matters, when dealing with those who don't respect their own laws.

That office seems to have their own scams going for some time ...

https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/643226-scam-at-pathum-thani-immigration-center/

... so there may be a local agent/fixer who can get things done there w/o issue.

He is changing extension types from one Non-Imm Non-O reason (retirement) to another reason (marriage).   There is nothing wrong with this.  If married to a Thai and over 50, either is permitted subject to the qualifications for each.

Marriage-extensions involve some work, so they want to punish him for doing it in-person honestly, vs via a payoff-system from which the office-staff directly enriches themselves.  It's the same in many offices.

Does your yellow house registration book show that you are living at an address in Pathum Thani?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Op ask ubonjoe to me its sounds wrong but Joe will know

I know you've said all your documentation is accurate and correct for your present marriage extension application in Pathum Thani, but was your original retirement extension that the agent arranged for you in Pattaya 100% above board with all documentation accurate?

It seems strange that he would advise you to start again with a new non O visa if everything he did in Pattaya was above board.

Using agents always seems to mess things up

That is assuming the agent in Pattaya did everything legally and above board.

If the agent did everything correctly why would he suggest the OP go out of Thailand and get a new non O visa and start the process again.

Agents tend not to get involved in marriage extensions because the approval is not made at the local Immigration Office, so it's not something they can easily pay a corrupt IO.

....or go to another country, that's possible.

I had no problem moving to Nonthaburi and getting a retirement extension after getting three in CM.  They just wanted assurance that I was actually living here, and not simply trying to bypass CM Imm.  I think PT  are a bit more stringent than Nonth, but the bright side will be no CW.

Always Keep It Simple K IS with Imm...you did not..just like letting your fixed deposits mature during seasoning..probably and should are not good words for Immigration.

no, it cost 10 x more but at least you get the visa

Yeah that is the cost and the resulat of using "agents" down in the human swamp of Jomtien/Pattaya. I guess the IO;s in P. Thani preferable do NOT want to even come near extensions done by these f:ng agents and their counterpoart IO;s in J/Pattaya....

Lesson learned I guess?? Or??

glegolo

I heard of a similar case in a rural office where someone was trying to get a retirement extension on a Non-Imm-O obtained in a nearby country, based on marriage, and that was rejected. Apparently it is wrong, there is no reason a change of extension type cannot be processed providing you qualify. I see no way around it though other than starting again with a new non-imm-O.

Will they perform a change of entry from a Visa Exempt in Pathum Thani?

no, it cost 10 x more but at least you get the visa
It's not 10x more if you take account of the savings from not moving baht you don't want to
There, possibly, is the key to your problem....an agent was involved.
Not necessarily, they wouldn't know an agent was used unless the Op or wife told them
