Hello! Around one and a half month ago, I sent package to my parents with Thai threats, snacks, also there is some clothes and non-liquid cosmetics. Quite big one, around 16kg (max weight is 20kg).

I chose most slow method, so I knew it would be long. However, I noticed in tracking that package stuck at BANGKOK MAIL CENTER with status "Container Received" for more than 30 days.

Today at Post Office, I asked why it is stuck here, in Bangkok and got answer that packaged didn't pass the x-ray scan. They say it will be returned to Post Office soon.

 

The question is: can I ask to get my money back? Since package didn't go further than Bangkok, and I paid around 4000thb to deliver it to desired location.

Sending threats by post is against the law in most countries.

My guess would be that, if they found something which is on their 'banned' list, you will get no refund.

Highly unlikely but you lose nothing by asking the Post Office you dealt with.

Yep, thanks for mention it, I mean treats of course ????

Around two years ago I sent home almost identical package from Phuket without any problem. I'll ask them again, because they don't know what is wrong with package.

 

Something similar happened to me once. I sent a camera body and forgot to remove the battery. Post office called me and told me to come in. They opened the package, I took out the offending battery. They sealed it back up and it was on its way again. No extra fee was required to be paid.

A friend of mine sent 2 parcels to New Zealand by the cheapest surface mail route. They both eventually arrived after over 4  months. I doubt they were on the high seas for that time, or that NZ customs were unusually slow (normally takes about 5 days in NZ).

 

So one can only assume that the parcels were in Thailand waiting to be consolidated into a large container before shipping. Most people would choose the faster Surface Air Lifted, or airmail options.

Equally possible, of course, that the parcels were languishing in some NZ post office after clearing Customs until someone there was sufficiently bothered as to send them on their merry way to their final destination.
