Just got back from savanaket Loas today with a new 90 day Non O, one problem before I left I went to Bangkok immigration and asked if my photocopy of our marraige certificate translation was sufficient to get a new Non O and was told yes no problem, got to Savanaket and they said don't think I can give you one because of the photocopy, I then explained that Bangkok had told me different (in the nicest possible way) he went away for ten minutes and said they would this time but next time I need an original and put a note in Thai above the stamp explaining this, they also asked to see our original UK certificate.

On a different note isn't it strange that it became increasingly difficult to obtain visas in Penang just about the same time the new friendship bridge opened.

I would have the photocopy for them to keep, but the original in case they need to verify.

Was the consulate packed?   Was the International Bus from Mukdaharn to Savannakhet difficult to get a seat on?

Give us some more info as I might have to go and do a new non O mid April.

Arrived Thursday two tours there at the time ( maybe 30 people) but only had to wait about half an hour in line by the time I filled out my form, although waiting outside in the blazing sun is not so good, they only allow about 8 people at a time in the office so be warned. when you get there go straight upstairs to the office to collect an application form and make sure you have a pen withn you as there was a queue to get a pen.

International bus was OK standing room only but no problem. It stands at the first stop left hand side after you leave the ticket offices.
