Doesn't matter. The numbers are alarming.

I understood his point that two-wheeled vehicles account for a majority of roadway fatalities. Ideally the "authorities" could concentrate efforts to reduce deaths in all classes of vehicle, concentrating resources on those vehicles with the highest number of fatalities. Then again, rational thought and action by those that can make a difference is a subject of longstanding debate.

and will progress to a larger number.....will never decrease until a very hard driving test is passed by well qualified examiners ( who will be as scarce as rocking horse **it)

Yes a very hard driving test will help along with actual police enforcement and education from a very young age.

Daily News reported that 57 people died at the scene of road accidents on Tuesday bringing the total for the year to 9,160.

And how many died on the way to the super hospitals without an emergency OP, or a few hours/days after the accident.

How many of them have lost body parts and are disabled?

The real number is way higher.

I read that UN estimates around 30k+ .

Don't start bashing....... it's sooo hard to become a hub of something ????

20,000 are dead and it could be much less. It doesn´t matter if they die from bombs or bad, stupid, uneducated driving (often without driver license). And it costs the country billions every year. If farangs would kill 100 Thais per year, they would check us much more. If bad driving kills ten thousands, nobody cares. That´s strange.

If the grinning idiots know the actual statistical cost of a life, you'd think they would take effective action. However, whilst there remains no actual political cost, they will sit on their little balls and continue to do nothing but twiddle their thumbs.

Unfortunately the government, police or indeed military neither has the understanding of the problem nor the wherewithal to solve the problem.  Long term solutions including children’s education right through to appropriate driver education and strict enforcement of the law.

Consequently nothing will change anytime soon.

The answer is not rocket science.  Enforced driver training prior to gaining first licence, and strict road policing by police, as in other developed country’s. In this country neither happens, so everyone drives as they like, with the resultant carnage.

Yep, lost cause forget about implementing any changes to the Thai motor vehicle legislation in Thailand.

The majority of Thai road users consider themselves to be Road Warriors and are invincible in addition to being stupid braindead morons.

Keep it up Thais, continue killing and maiming your fellow road users and your will eventually make it into the Guinness  book of records.

Stopping with the red and starting with the green thing completely obscure for most of the conductors who prefer to cross with red in any case appears to be a collective suicide and perhaps it is a subconscious reaction to be reborn to better life. This is Thailand's biggest problem of which I see no solution for the future changed such a radically passive and fatalistic mentality will take decades .

Thirty percent of drivers have no license-the police don’t stop people breaking the law, penalties are weak

easy to fix, no problem I’ll to fix the problems

lots more people to die in a country with a population issue

how and why and when DOES ONE SWERVE to avoid an already parked object.

One sees it from a distance and then takes the appropriate manouver to drive past.....!!

BUT NO ....thais do not see this as a problem then gets near and thiks OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! there is a parked vehicle THEN HE/SHE swerves to miss said vehicle.....

I have never SWERVED to avoid a parked vehicle, like many others on here WHO CAN DRIVE PROPERLY....

dont  worry they  will  blame  everything  on  speeding  and its  virtually  never  the  real  cause but  allows more  cameras  and  fines  for  speeding but  none  for  tailgating,  lack  of  attention, the  main  causes.

No-one patrols the roads to see and stop them driving like idiots, so how will they get spotted and fined?

well to start traffic cams on busy roads with high accident rates is a start...can't rely on the lazy cops so got to use technology.
