Large haul of confiscated marijuana to be processed into oil

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) is transferring more than a tonne of confiscated marijuana to the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine and the Department of Medical Sciences to process the haul into 600,000 bottles of cannabis extract, the ONCB director said, adding that this move is not violating any convention on narcotics. 

 

Niyom Termsrisuk, ONCB secretary-general, who transferred the cannabis after gaining approval from Food and Drug Administration, said the two departments will process the drug using traditional methods. They are expected to use 1 tonne of the marijuana to produce 660,000 5cc bottles of cannabis oil, while the remaining 5 kilos will be used for medical experiments. 

 

As for talk about Thailand and Malaysia’s plans to allow independent cannabis farming violating the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, Niyom said he has already checked and learned that this is nothing but a rumour.

 

He also claimed that no Asian country was violating the conventions, adding that people wanting to grow cannabis must explain their reasons to the International Narcotics Control Board first.

If it was grown outside the law it almost surely will have a lot of pesticides and chemical fertilizers on and in it. Will they test it?

I hope they know how to eliminate the Paraquat!

Mexico used it in the ‘70’s at the request of the US. A lyric from a song I forget had the line, “Paraquat, body-rot, Colombia here we come.”

Thais banned pot because the US said it was bad.Now the US is saying that pot is good so now it's ok to grow it so get the bloody hell on with it and stop all this dilly dallying around.

If it's cheap enough you can just drink it that's what Mel52 does.Otherwise just put a bit in a spoon and heat it up a little and mix it with tobacco and smoke it in a bong or joint.

Last time they said they could not use any of the confiscated product as it was found in testing to be too contaminated.

Maybe the people growing it were told to stop using chemicals so that it can be used for medical purposes.

Yes, I read that article and wondered about all of this. The same issue seems to have followed this current batch. They have not instituted any regulation of the growing, cultivation, and harvesting of a pure product. What you will get is a tainted oil with residues of pesticides and whatever else the grower used. This is the antithesis of 'Medical Grade' MJ and oil. 

 

Also, because there are numerous strains of cannabis giving various properties to the end result, oil or weed, you have no idea what the grade of the product is or the strength and use it is advised for. This is why in the States and elsewhere, where the cannabis is regulated and tested for its properties, you can walk in to a store and decide if you want this or that effect from the product you are buying. It is not a one-size fits all enterprise that the Thais seem to think it is. Not one mention of grades or properties. No mention of THC or CDB percentages. So much info is missing. This is not a medical enterprise by any means. But, if you want to get high, I'm sure it doesn't matter to the vast majority of users.

Commercial weed will make commercial oil. Meaning it will be quite weak. The Thai's really dont have a clue about what they are doing. Its just the same old rich guys trying to make a bigger profit off of something new. No due diligence done at all. A joke..
 

Obvious trying to extract oil from the lowest grade of weed on earth and absolutely clueless of the right materials and the process involved with extracting.they are trying to run before they can walk as usual.maybe I should apply for the job.heres the raw material soaked in THC crystal glands.

I thought in the medicinel marijuana oil the THC is removed at least in Ga when they were trying to get it legalized that's what they said

Exactly! It will do more harm than good.

Has anyone done the MathS (English). 660,000 x 5cc bottles = 3,300,000 cc = 3300 litres from One tonne (1000kg) weed = 3.3 litres from 1kg. I think not, unless it is very very diluted.

Not long after they said they were short of raw material to produce the first batch. So now they will probably cut it with a product that had no quality control. 

Seems like a decision NOT based on scientific evidence

Chemical fertilizer, fungicide (mostly sulfur) and many possible kind of insecticide. However from what I have seen most farmer would literally plant and forget which in the tropic is not necessarily bad. They probably also have no clue on how to properly cure the product after harvesting so possibly some mold and or over dried/crushed product.
