cjnst2
Ok. I've procrastinated on getting my airline tickets back to America. I've been all over the internet at all the main websites dealing with tickets(Kayak, cheaptickets.com, etc) and all of them have prices higher than expected. I flew out here using EVA airways and they seem to have a special promotion going on right now that I'm considering but I'd like to know if any one knows of better options. Facts: I am in Chiang Mai right now. I'm have to get to Pittsburgh, PA. I'll travel via plains, trains, and or automobiles....whatever is the most economical. My travel dates are flexible within reason. I can leave between March 26 and April 2......and I'd like to return in late April sometime. Right now my best option seems to be: Bangkok to Los Angeles for ~20,000...give or take 3,000 baht. EVA's website isn't very clear on the promotion. Then I'd get either another ticket from Los Angeles to Pittburgh round trip or a just go greyhound(bus) for about $230 round trip. I'd like to know if anyone knows of a good travel agent or another way that can get me a better deal. Also realize I wouldn't mind going to New York via flight as it is closer to my home. I flew out here threw New York. Basically I'm looking to get from where I'm at now(Chiang Mai) to Pittsburgh for ~$1000 to $1100US round trip. I'm a cheapskate when it comes to spending money on stuff like this. I hope it's possible.
Crouton
I'm by no means an expert but this place got me the best prices for my trip to BKK. It searches a bunch of airlines and was surprisingly cheaper than every where else I checked http://www.airlineconsolidator.com/

pumpuiman
In the future start looking for tickets more than 21 days in advance. The prices seem to drop considerably. Also, travel on Tue., Wed, or Thu...never Friday through Monday. Enter alternate airports and flexible dates in your searches. Try calling airlines direct.....I have actually got some great deals this way. Good luck.

aussiestyle1983
I found the cheapest deal for myself flying to Texas was a combination of EVA plus United. BKK ot LAX return on EVA. The LAX to SAT return on United. But there are many possibilites and combinations to choose from, as different airlines use different hubs in the US. But if you go through LA, you will get a good deal from BKK on EVA then just searc hfor a cheap flight within the US. If you go over Europe, i'd have no idea................ I hope it's possible. Your procrastination has not served you well. And it doesn't help that you are traveling Peak (outbound) and Shoulder (return). You've basically excluded yourself from any inexpensive fares as you cannot meet the APEX (Advanced Purchase Excursion) requirements. I'd say you'd be lucky to geto CNX-PIT-CNX for less than 2x your current budget. And even that will be a stretch. With a bit of planning, in the future, you could meet that budget. ITA Software really has the best engine as it shows true availability. BKK-PIT-BKK for 2 Apr/24 Apr is showing 60,000 THB on several carriers/routes. These are base fares, exclusive of taxes and fees.
