I wonder has anyone had any experience of sending an unaccompanied dog/pup on a train in Thailand?

My location is Prachinburi and I'm getting a pup from a breeder in Had Yai; because of work commitments I'm a bit short of time to go and collect the pup and the breeder doesn't want to put it on a plane as cargo because he has heard horror stories about dogs being doped, sometimes fatally.

Now before anyone starts telling me that I should go and see the pup with it's mother, etc and other kinds of good advice; I have already checked it out and furthermore have trust in, and respect for the breeder.

When i was a kid my grandfather used to train working sheepdogs and sent them to buyers by train all over the UK. Anyway, I will go and pick the pup up myself if necessary, Thai Airways allow you to take a small dog in a suitably sized box as carry-on luggage, but just wondered if getting him sent by train to Bangkok might be an option.

don't go for the train option, the ride is too long and stressful for the pup. can you pick up the dog from bkk airport? if so then convince the breeder to send it by air. i had one dog sent to samui from bkk and one from pattaya with no problem. one (adult) dog had been given sleeping pill and took it 2 days to recover from. most importantly is that they don't drug the dog as is required by the airlines. the other dog which had been sent here was a puppy and had been brought to the airport in a transportbox, when asked if the dog has had it's sleeping pills they said the pills have been given already, or you can take some vitamin pill and administer in front of airline staff if they insist on. don't give any sedative as is too strong and very risky for puppy.

Totally agree with elfie's option.

I have been send 2 dogs already by plane from BKK to Phuket and never had a problem with it.
