They already have gotten away. Corrupt government to blame, case closed.

Nobody, means no one with any power, connections, wealth, nobody who is currently in power in the administration, local or state government, the army, or the police. Anyone else is game.

Just as we saw in Koh Tao (Dark Tao) years ago, when the death of David and Hannah were pinned on those two innocent Burmese lads. The real perpetrator, the son of the headman of Sairee Beach is still continuing his hobby of serial killing, totally above the law. Any and all laws, including the weak and hapless army. By the way, their death sentences are about to be carried out. They have been at the Bangkok Hilton all this time, after filing an appeal which was turned down.

Very sad their only hope is for a royal pardon.

He's been missing for as long as you've been in charge... you've done sod all up to now to promote a true justice system.

So he’s going to solve the crime in 3 months ?

and like a miracle, 2 boys from Burma will confess to the murder just one day before the 3 months is up !

...done by the book...well, unless there is a new book that we don't know about - nothing will get done, or, some innocent scapegoat will be located, locked-up and left to die.

After 5 years I think the trail has gone cold.but u never know

As long as the murder has nothing to do with the military or the wealthy that he shield. Meanwhile the brutal attack on Ja New and other political activists and the torture/death of the Abdulloh Esomuso who die in military custody were given light cursory mention and uninterested by him. He is so fake.

I've probably missed something, what has caused this to be in the headlines, I thought it was done and dusted, swept under the carpet.

Not a lot has happenned in 5 years with this case......why now!

this is thailand, a cooking book for sure!

Prayut said that the DSI has set a three-month timeframe for the case, adding that the investigation will be done by the book.

It says so much about Thailand, doesn't it, that he has to even say that. Even though it will all result in nothing due to lack of evidence after all this time.

Nobody, huh? That's not a very Thai name. He must have a lot of money and connections.

......... and in three months from now the committee of 1'847'234 experts will come to the conclusion, that it was suicide.

He might have been suicided ....... but it's a suicide nevertheless!

The same authorities never nailed all those VIP-kids going around town and killing, among others, police officers on duty and then disappear into thin air ....... a Red Bull beneficiary springs to mind here!

TRANSLATION:

'The way I want it to be.'

July 29, 2019: Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will directly supervise the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) instead of assigning one of his deputies to do it on his behalf, as was the practice in the past https://news.thaivisa.com/article/38207/pm-to-supervise-the-dsi

And if DSI relies on the police in its investigation, Prayut also supervises the Royal Police as well.

Prayut says his supervision of DSI and National Police ensures agency coordination. A better term might be "collusion."

Yes a lot has been swept under the carpet over the past 5 years but the World is watching.

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thailands-hopes-for-kaeng-krachan-as-natural-world-heritage-site-dashed/

I do hope international 'eyes' steer this in the right direction, but past records are pointing otherwise. For example, the world was also watching the Koh Tao murders proceedings, and look how, right on cue, the bumbling authorities bungled that up. They even got a 'job well-done' slap on the back for their unadulterated display of utter incompetence by The Esteemed Leader, no less.

Pinnapa, reduced to tears upon hearing details of her husband’s killing, admitted that though she has confidence in DSI’s investigation, she is still worried that some influential figures may intervene to dampen the efforts.

She's onto it.  Past performance is a predictor of future performance....

Starting a huge investigation 5 years after the poor fellas death? Why bother at all....

The investigators have done an excellent job every step of the way. This is just one more positive note. While the final outcome is unknown, at least we can all agree that so far, so good and give credit where credit is due.

Nobody will get away with Billy’s murder.

Indeed the national park staff are diligently rounding up suitable young Karen males as candidates to take the death penalty, as we speak. It is very clear to anyone in authority that the murder was the result of a dispute between local Karens about collecting wild honey.  Dragging the body to a restricted forest area next to a park office and disposing of it there was an obvious ploy to implicate forest staff.

The usual collection of pessimistic, psuedo-detectives blathering about what will or will not happen in this sad case. My only hope is that international exposure and pressure will allow justice to be served.

Except that the chief suspect has already been tried and acquited. I believe that the double jeopardy law does exist here no matter how much new evidence they find.

Napoleon and his deputy went out of their way to stress the thoroughness of the investigation into the perpetrators of Ja New's attacks but that soon fizzled out. It's all <deleted> and wind.

Business as usual.....

So those DSI muppets know that they will solve the case in three months. That would be impressive, but unless they just pin it on some scapegoats, I have no idea what their confidence is based on.

Can you please provide a reference to this trial and acquittal? Thought not. It's hard to even imagine what he would have been tried for as there was no body until this week.
