Flew back in Weds night, went to Chiang Mai Immigration.

Was in and out in 10 minutes.

Crazy though.....that I lived in the same house for the last 5 yrs and returned to the same house, what they should do is if you have a 30 for an address and you return to the same address, they know where you are which is the point of a 30 anyway.

After 24 hrs of travel, the last thing I felt like doing the next morning was going to Immigration.

If you already have a 30 for same address you are returning to, you don’t need a new 30 form or any copies of passport or house book or anything.

They wrote on my original 30, updated in computer and handed back all my copies and new form I had filled out.

Nice! Well done, sir! I really love a story where somebody not have any problems with TM30. See, all other folks out there. It wasn´t so hard.

and you already filled in the arrival card with your same address.

I think what many have a problem with is like in Bangkok where Chaeng Wattana is not that fast to go for some people. And then there are long queues there. So you almost spend at least half a day for a TM30.

If they would allow the online reporting to everybody and made it easy to register then the problem would be smaller.

Now with the online possibility it's a think of about 5 minutes to do on your mobile (Section 38 app) and it's not so big problem anyway.

About the significance of all the reports that's another topic. As I think it really helps nothing! As the bad people don't bother to do anything.

That's why most people won't bother.

Your post must be sarcasm I suppose otherwise what part of "Crazy though.....that I lived in the same house for the last 5 yrs and returned to the same house" and "After 24 hrs of travel, the last thing I felt like doing the next morning was going to Immigration." did you not understand?!

Go out and get a hobby.

Felt like doing, or not felt like doing is irrelevant. He did it, and it worked fine. That´s the important thing that you and many more must learn and accept. No it was not sarcasm

I hope you realize that you are entitled to your opinion and that I am entitled to mine. I do not need to get out and get a hobby. I just do not see TM30 as a big problem in life. Actually I would say that most people probably not do. That´s because the moaners are always the visible few, and they always believe they have the most followers out of the same stupid reason. I do not need to celebrate it, I just need to accept it.

Yes, I have been reading them. Mostly the same people there to that constantly complain. You know, thta small percentual number that is insignificant in the big picture.

Now the problem is soo well know and almost nobody is unaware of TM and have been able to read about the reform-thailand petition. Still is we only consider the western expats in Thailand that is about 150 000 then they not even have 5% signed. That tells you how the situation is.

if you then also take all the chinese into the calculation, then you are going to cry about how really small and insignificant number the percentage went down to.

Appearently your life is saved too, due to that you are always available for a response, right?

So would you like to state for the record and confirm with a simple yes or no:

You think that most people don't mind doing the TM30?

Available for a response on something stupid, yes. Absolutely.

For the TM30, no. I have a life.

Of course that's the problem. A week ago, I went to Chaengwattana to complete the TM 30. Done in 30 seconds after I waited in line for about an hour. That was sort of okay. But not the 40 km drive to Chaengwattana and 40 km drive back. Especially the last 4 km on Chaengwattana itself, which took me one and a half hours. Taxi to Chaengwattana was 500 baht. Taxi back home was 350. Not so damn easy, is it?

Yes I think most of the person who have to go to Chaeng Wattana understand you 100%.

So now I am happy, that I only have to go there for the extensions only.

TM30, TM90 can be done online which makes my life easier again.

Even two years ago, I had the same experience at CM upon my return..they let me play through, because I had done it before.  The room was full of very unhappy first timers, who were facing delays in the often day long, or even multi day extension process at CM.  Glad I left that rat hole.

Our local Immigration Office process in 10 minutes too.....just a shame that wifey has an 80 km round trip to get there because they won't allow postal reporting and she has been waiting since May for a username and password for the online TM30.

Yes. I could have posted the same when I first did one on my return to Thailand in April. As a condo owner it took only a few minutes at Jomtien immigration. BUT I live within a 10 minute walk from Soi 5. Many people live many kilometres from their immigration office. I can cope with a 10 minute walk even with jetlag but I certainly wouldn't want a 100km round trip and a wasted morning on my first day back in Thailand.

In many cases it's not hard but it's bloody inconvenient.

With receipt taking over 3 weeks how does that work when you travel OFTEN. I Would be posting my second or third while waiting for first reply.

Don't tell me it will all be OK at CW when I show them my ems tracking.

If you get to CW about 11am you will get out about 8pm for filing TM30.

my last experience at CW for TM30:

i waited on line 1 hour and half and done in 2 minutes, the officer didn't charge me for coming late (5 days after my arrival in Thailand)

not so bad ...

When you fly back into the country you have to fill in a TM6 which you hand to the immigration officer they record it then rip a piece off and staple it to your passport the TM6 has your address on it so why the need to then make a trip to your IO to fill in a TM 30 as you have already given them your address on your TM6 that to me is crazy .

It was hard he flew for 24 hours. last thing you want to do is get to CNX IMO early before the crowds hit and spend 2 hours of your morning wasted.

Would you wait an hour in a bank to do a 2 minute transaction ?
