bangkok bank counter withdrawal

Featured Replies

Hello, I am an US citizen and currently living in Bangkok. Does anyone know if I can use my American debit card to withdraw money in order to avoid the expensive atm fee? Honestly, the Thai atm fee is more expensive than American atm fees. May I withdraw money from Bangkok bank because it is everywhere? Thank you

The ATM fee is because you are using an American card. Whether it's debit or credit doesn't matter. Some American banks will also charge a 3% foreign currency exchange fee and possibly their own ATM fee for using a bank that's not part of their network

Yes, you can use your US debit card at many Bangkok Bank branches to do counter withdrawal with no Thai bank fee.  I say "many" because some will not....they will just point you to their ATM.

I do counter withdrawals using my US debit cards at Bangkok Bank and Krungsri Bank.  Please note that at Krungsri they will charge a Bt200 counter withdrawal fee for a foreign Visa card, but no fee for a foreign Mastercard.

More specifically because it's a "foreign" card....any foreign country.   Almost any foreign card will be charged the Bt220 fee except in some unique cases like how some Oz Citibank Visa/Mastercard card holders can escape the fee at a Thai Citibank ATM.
