Phnom Penh SETV info up to date ($1000 proof of funds)?

Featured Replies

I'll be getting a second SETV in Phnom Penh. Based on the Thai Embassy Phnom Penh website, a minimum of $1000USD for proof of funds is required.

From my understanding, proof of funds is required for visas on arrival (and it's less than $1000USD). As of Sept. 2019, is the Thai Embassy Phnom Penh webpage up to date/correct? If it is, is it enforced?

Many embassies and consulates want to see at least the equivalent of 20k baht to apply for a tourist visa.

At Phnom Penh their equivalent is $1,000 US.

It's within their power to request that level of funds. The message in red at the top of the page seems to suggest they are clamping down on serial tourism.

Warning: Visa applicants with records of long and frequent stays in Thailand on previous tourist visas/ visa exemptions may have their visa application rejected if the applicant cannot provide adequate proof that they plan to travel to Thailand solely for tourism purposes. Applicants who wish to travel to Thailand for other purposes (work, retirement etc.) should apply for the appropriate visas.

The standard 20K baht isn't adequate for a 60 days stay in Thailand so maybe they consider $1,000 more realistic for a tourist.
