Skin Cancer Specialists

Featured Replies

Is there anyone out there that can recommend (from personal experience) a Bangkok/Thai/Issan doctor or clinic that can properly treat the common ailments (BCC and SCCs') that aflllict the fair-skinned ex-pats among us on this forum? I am an aussie/thai that is suffering from the effects of UV as the outdoor life I enjoyed in former decades catches up.

Any advice?

Mike.

Had a biopsy for skin canncer at Bumrungrad but as it was benign there was no follow up treatment so can't comment on that.

The Dr. who performed my biopsy was Dr. Chitralada Vibhagool who is Chualonkon and Harvard educated.

Did a good job.

You can have a read up on her or any other staff on Bumrungrad's website.

Bumrungrad's certainly not the cheapest but personally I'm willing to pay for the professionalism when surgery is involved.

I have used this Doctor at Vejthani Hospital and the laser treatment, and more impotently the results, were far better than I received at the Bumrungrad Hospital previously (where every treated spot returned).

Thanks for the tips fellas, much apppreciated.

I've twice consulted dermatologists at Samitivej for lesions, don't remeber the names but both were Western-trained and seemed quite good.

Just use the search function on their website to check out dermatologist;s qualifications and look for one who trained in a western country with high rates of skin cancer.

In Chiangmai at Chiang Mai Ram hospital, Dr Vachiraporn, a (female) dermatologist knows her stuff. She removed an actinic keratosis (a pre-cancerous spot) from my face with liquid nitrogen. Not a sign of it 3 months later. I believe that she would recognise actual skin cancers too.

Are there any recommendations for the Udonthani area regarding a specialist on possible skin cancers please ?

Thank you

Hi all,

Res skin problems - the Oz embassy years ago recommended me to Samitivej in Soi 49. Ive been there many times and theyre fine. The senior doctor is Nalinee, and the junior is Watcharee - both are good but Nalinee is harder to get to see as shes busy and travels. They also have an excellent surgeon, forget his name. Samitivej is expensive but its almost a pleasure to go there,

best, Glen

I was fortunately diagnosed as having a form of skin cancer. Fortunate in that I was in Bumrungrad for an operation on a disk in my spine and the doctor advised I have a spot on my back investigated. It proved positive.

I go back for 6 monthly checks. On my last visit I had several more moles removed and one of these proved positive also.

for your info, from walking into the dermitology department, waiting to see a specialist (20mins),,going upstairs for laser treatment (30mins),,,coming back down and paying... the whole episode takes less than 2 hours and hardly hurts at all. Cost about 7000 baht. That hurts a bit....
