According to the New York City Thai Consulate website, one of the document requirements for an O-A long-stay Visa are... "An original bank statement showing deposit amount equal to and no less than 800,000 Thai baht and an original letter of guarantee from the bank". I've not heard of a "letter of guarantee" from a bank regarding a savings deposit account. Can anyone share any experience with this?

 

Quoting the New York city thai consulate i suppose you are asking your OA visa from the USA

so the 800 000 bahts are in fact the equivalent amount in US $ (Better to plan a little bit more

for example 810 000 m coz the exchange rate could unfortunely drop even more in the future days)

in a bank account at your name in a US bank, and the letter of guarantee have to be issued by 

your US bank, it doesn't matter if your account is a saving or not.

In fact the consulate just want to be sure that you have enough money in your bank to support yourself

during 1 year in Thailand.

They just want a letter from your bank confirming the balance. 

I just got mine in Hollywood, I brought a statement and a signed letter from Credit Union stating my balance. Also don't forget to have med cert notarized. 

The med certificate being notarized must just be a la consulate requirement, not needed at dc. Make sure you check the specifics for the consulate you will use, they vary.
