One of the 13 victims of a fire, caused by an explosion at a gas station in Siem Reap province last month, died on Monday while receiving medical treatment in Thailand.

Brigadier General Phing Sambath, Siem provincial deputy police chief, yesterday identified the victim as Moeun Vichet, 47, who died at the hospital in Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima province. “Now, the family of the deceased has prepared documents to send the body back for a funeral at his home in Puok district’s Puok commune,” he said.

On August 14, an explosion sparked a blaze at a 24-hour LPG station in Siem Reap city’s Sla Kram commune, injuring 13 people, including two foreigners. Six of the victims were seriously hurt and sent to Thailand for treatment. Colonel Nop Sarak, city police chief, yesterday said police are preparing documents to seek court action against the owner of the gas station who they have accused of negligence leading to the explosion and blaze.
