Let's say somebody applies for a one year extension and gets the under consideration stamp.

Then a few days later this person has to leave Thailand and gets a re entry permit before doing so.

This person comes back way more than 30 days later, for example two months later.

Will this person be allowed into Thailand using the re entry permit and can then get his extension at his immigration office?

No.

The re-entry permit will have a use by date, which will be the end of the 30 day under consideration period. You will need to TE-enter before the end of that 30 day to keep the extension application live.

In Chaengwatthana I asked the officers to come one day later - no chance, extension was canceld.

Was that after entering the country?

Most offices are flexible on the report back date if you are still in the country. Reporting a day late should not void out your extension application.

30 working days where I am.

Never heard of them counting working days at an office.

Some offices do not start the 30 days until your current permit to stay ends. The means that it will be 30 days plus the number of days you did your extension early.

If you’re referring to the under consideration period that’s possible, but only if applying to renew early. 30 days is the maximum, by law, from the end of an existing stay permit that immigration can give.

If someone applied 30 days early they could be told to report back up to 60 days later. If they applied on the last possible day they would have to report back within a maximum of 30 (total) days.

I stand corrected. Last year, early changeover from other visa extension 28 days, this year 28th day after expiry. Just coincidental that it is 43rd day after submission.
Thank you for clarification.

First of all why travel 30 days? Travel for a week is ok during the processing time of extension which is normally 30 days. So when submit extension application then should not leave until its complete still could travel for a short period because the immigration photo session csn be anytime within this 30 days processing time. You msy decide priorities.

Not everybody gets a home visit every year. Many offices only do one for the first extension.

I applied 45 days early this year and was given an under consideration stamp for 30 days beyond my extension end date, so effectively 75 days.

The new extension application was approved and issued though on the same day my old extension expired.

It has been 30 days from the end of your permit to stay for many years here in the Northeast for division 4. All 12 of my under consideration stamps have the same report back date no matter when I applied.

Division 4 seems to be quicker this year. My application was accepted on the 7th of August and was approved by them on September 4th. I did not check to see if was ready until the 17th since I have been told it was not ready yet so many times.
