September 29, 20196 yr Hi all, i`im going to buy photo lense from B&H online shop. Total amount is $700 + $39 delivery. Will i have to pay any fees upon receiving this package from B&H here in Bangkok?
September 29, 20196 yr According to https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/ camera lenses (HS Code 9021.39.0000) are duty exempt so you just have to pay 7% VAT on the total cost (including shipping). About $53. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
September 29, 20196 yr The last thing I bought from B&H this month was shipped by DHL. They usually collect the duties and vat as part of the shipping cost.
September 29, 20196 yr Author Oh! So does that mean i won`t be charged here in BKK at all (having paid DHL Express delivery charge only)?

Difficult to say... they not always follow the rules Could you let us know when you get the delivery? I would be interested in latest experience
September 29, 20196 yr Author Sure i will if i purchase this kit. Currently i`m trying to figurre out if i might get away with Lazada or just local stores, dealing with cameras and lenses etc. But what i know for sure is that back in 2014(!) i purchased some $100 (or so) gadget, andd it was delivered by Fedex from the US. And i had to pay tax here in BKK.
September 29, 20196 yr The application of duty can be largely arbitrary. Even if the HS code of the said lens is supposed to be exempt from duty, doesn't mean the customs officer will comply with it! That said, DHL is a customs magnet - if using the regular mail service is not an option (USPS), forget about it.
