Thailand Social Security for Expats 10/1 update

Featured Replies

I told a member of another forum that he would qualify for the Medical insurance if he continued his payments on his own after he stopped working as he worked and was in the system for 2 years. Told him he may get a hard time at Sri Ratcha SS office as I and a few others i know did. I told him Rayong was great zero issues in and out under 30 Mins. Well he went to Rayong as I suggested and today i got the message from him.

Hi mate, thought I'd update you as I finally got around to going to Rayong SSO. Apparently they have a new (old) rule that your name must be in a Thai house book in order to apply for this.

I called the SSO hotline and after initially saying that was <deleted> they changed their tune after speaking to their supervisor and said this is indeed the 4th point you must meet the other 3 being:

1. Must have contributed for 12 months

2. Must have finished/resigned employment

3. Work permit must be expired.

I met the first 3 and initially they accepted that the officer at the SSO Rayong was incorrect before changing their tune to saying I must be in a house book. Probably should have just slipped her some cash to let it slide.

Just  wanted to update this for anyone getting ready to apply
