‘Anti-fake-news centre’ to open next month

The Digital Economy and Society Ministry has recruited 40 officials from its own staff and CAT Telecom and the TOT (Telephone Organisation of Thailand) to man an “anti-fake-news centre” opening next month.

More are expected to join the team.

Minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta said the centre’s staff would monitor news sources including social media and investigate suspected fake claims, countering them as necessary with factual reports it will publicise in turn.

He believes the staff will be able to determine the truth within two hours of encountering false reports and said the centre will then create an infographic outlining the facts.

Infographics are considered a simple way of sharing the correct information, he said.

Buddhipongse insisted the centre’s aim is only to counter fake claims, not to bring legal action against the sources.

Maybe someone should export that concept to the USA, the Land of the Free...

First assignment should be to clear up Thamanat's heroin case or Prayuth's incomplete oath story.

Both guys claim they did nothing wrong. Factual evidence is out there and has even been found, shouldn't be hard for a diligent team to find the info

Oh, c'mon now! The hub of fake stories? Tourism up, tourism down, exports up, exports down. Repeat as necessary to keep your seat on the board. Heavy sigh . . .

Next door to the real news center and the little white lie center so you can make your choice.

The "anti fake news centre" alias the propaganda department.

Some work for them to start.

Prayut and Prawit are only interested in improving the quality of life to Thailand's poor majority and Steven100 is not really Prayut in disguise on TV.

Did I read something about infographics, not those vinyl boards again.
