Police in Chonburi have announced the resolution of two criminal cases involving South Korean nationals.

In the first eight South Koreans were arrested for running an online sports and baccarat betting operation out of a rented house in Bang Lamung.

The operation had a turnover of 58 million won or 1.5 million baht a day. The staff had been hired in South Korea and come into Thailand on tourist visas being paid 75,000 baht a month to work in the business.

The bettors were all people living in South Korea.

Along with damning electrical equipment the police also found quantities of drugs - six bags of "ice" (methamphetamine) weighing 6.4 grams, 16 Ecstasy pills and 1.95 grams of ketamine.

In a second case three South Koreans were arrested in connection with defrauding a Thai woman and her family out of 2,902,000 baht.

The money was supposed to have been transferred in won to some relatives of her husband in South Korea but a gang of three led by Kim, 41, siphoned off the money instead.
