Forex card - Cash Withdrawal charges in thailand ?

Featured Replies

So I am planning to carry money loaded into my forex card and wanted to withdraw cash on a daily basis as much as I need, but I think I got a problem coz I read somewhere that apart from the ATM cash withdrawal charges Levied by my own bank + the local bank who's ATM I am using also levy charges which can be around 180-200 Baht per transaction.

Now, this can prove to be too costly for me as I am in Thailand for 1 month.

So, please tellme what are the ATM cash withdrawal charges bank has there in Thailand ?

PS: I am India and planning to go with ICICI/HDFC/Axis bank forex cards.

ATMs fee is 220 Baht/transaction.

PS! Forex card isn't good idea. The bank's exchange rate is better than forex's. At least from Sweden

I just got a fabulous deal for buying thai baht here on my forex card... just a markup of 0.5 from the actual price

1 INR = 2.356 Thai baht and I am getting it at 2.40 OR 2.41 max, isn't it a good deal !?

Forex use Visas exchange rate for their cards.

Rate is currently 2.34. So you are paying a commission of up to 3%. Depends on what you consider a good deal.

Then you have the hefty cost of up to 220 baht for ATM withdrawals in Thailand. Some vendors may even attempt to charge for card usage.

Be careful out there ????

Got it mate ????

Lastly, I believe ATM dispenses 1000 baht notes mostly is we withdraw 10K, 20K

So easy to get smaller notes across thailand in main cities ?

I heard ppl saying small vendors/bars don't give proper change OR claim to have given smaller notes when they have to return change from 1K notes - A lil cautious I am but am sure I will manage fine.
