Haven't been here for a couple of years so out of touch.......

I used to be able to buy smoked mackeral, on the street stalls.

It was about 15 inches long, on a styrene dish, gladwrap covered and came with 2 sauces, one sweet dark soy, the other green lime.

I had found them in Banglamphou and also near china town.

Obviously they didn't market too well as I cannot find them in their old spots. They were absolutely beautiful with beer.

SO can anyone tell me where to find them??

maybe they are getting harder to find because the price of seafood keeps rising? street stalls have a hard time selling the more expensive items.

You can still find them at any of the fresh fish restaurants and bars on Soi Rambuttri alongside the Chana Songkram temple.

They are called Pla Sa Ba and cost around 50Baht per fish ... I agree they taste lovely with fresh frothy ales ! :o

Going back a few years, there used to be a vendor in our local market who cooked the most delicious Pla Sa Ba cooked with various spices, ginger etc., all wrapped in foil. The sauce was her own recipe too. Wonderful. She gave up because of the cost of the fish. I still see her around and she always stops for a chat, asks about the family etc.

I think you can get the gladwrap versions in Lotus, Carrefour etc. I seem to remember trying once and it was rather poor.
