The Opposition to censure Government between 18th and 20th December

 

 

The seven opposition parties have settled on their planned censure motion against the Government with the debate taking place between December 18th and 20th , opposition chief whip and Pheu Thai MP Suthin Klangsaeng said today (Tuesday).

 

He said that, during the censure debate, the opposition will take a new approach by shifting their focus from suspected corruption to alleged mismanagement by the previous government under General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s premiership and the current government’s performance over the past three months.

 

“We have solid and incriminating evidence which may cause the Government to fall,” Suthin claimed, adding that the opposition has no intention to overthrow the government “because the government will collapse of its own making.”

 

Representatives of the seven coalition parties met today to discuss plans for the censure debate, during which they agreed to censure the entire cabinet instead of individual ministers.  Pheu Thai MP Cholnan Srikaew said that the censure motion will be submitted to the House of Representatives no later than December 6th.

It might have been better to say that 'the fall of the Government by censure would simply be a prescribed result in accordance with the Constitution that would lead to new elections.' 

"Overthrow" doesn't enter into any part of the conversation and it was a mistake for Suthin to reference it.

I think there's an unwritten 'ignore' button in the newest Constitution.

 

I imagine it will get well used during and after the upcoming censure debate.

This is all so boring now.

Can't these people see that there is NO WAY to unseat the regime 'legally'?

It just ain't going to happen. The Opposition can huff and puff as much as they want (and they are right to do so) - but they will NOT succeed in blowing this military-backed house down.

 

Anyone with any brains and intellectual honesty can see that the situation is utterly, utterly hopeless in Thailand now (and has been for the past several years). The failure of the regime even to pay lip-service to their own Constitution (they refuse to swear to uphold it) says it all. It is out-and-out d..... well, you know what it is.

 

There is no way out, no road back to democracy now (except one - which will not be trodden by the timorous and downtrodden Thais, in any case ...).
