For the last 3yrs I have been getting a non o multi entry based on marriage from london which is coming to an end & london has stopped issuing them , I do some work in the uk so was easy for me to get via post when I was in the uk ( post & get back 2 days later )

My question is do they still issue single entry non o & if so can I then but a multi entry re entry permit as I come & go a few times a year for work

Thanks in advance

A single entry expires as soon as you enter the country. I believe you would have to apply for the year extension and then use a multi re-entry permit.

Like you, I rely on multi entry Non-Imm O and will be stuffed if they stop issuing these altogether !! I don't have long enough in Thailand, between work, to get the year extension. Guess I will just be spending more time each year out of Thailand and relying on visa exempt entries a couple time !!

A re-entry permit would only keep the 90 day entry from a single entry non-o visa valid when entering the country using it. It would expire at the end of the 90 days.

You can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage at the consulates in Savannakhet, Laos or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

It only takes a couple of days to get one.

That's what I just did, very easy. Just fly from London to one of the city's with a thailand consulate stay for 3 or 4 days then fly to thailand. Also come in on 30 days voa then fly out after 30 days to a thailand consulate.

Hi ,yes I know I can go to laos etc to get one & yes it's easy but it was even easier to post my passport to london with the paperwork & get it back 2 days later with visa ,I could get from Glasgow when I'm in the country but that is still a 7hr roundtrip & an overnight stay but I presume they are also only issuing single entries also , I work offshore & am back in thailand to see my wife every month , if it's not possible may have to bite the bullet & get 1yr o based on marriage from savannaket

JOE - Something different, would a Brit be able to get a non o based on marriage at the Thai embassy in Pretoria, SA? And if so do you know if they have 1 yr multi's available? I looked on their site and think they may only go to doubles only? Cheers

30 days Visa exempt, not a VOA.

I do not see anything on their website stating you have be resident to apply for a visa. Best to contact them about it.

Non-o visa are only issued as single or multiple entry visas. They stopped issuing 2 entry visas many years ago.

It appears they will issue a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage on this page.

Ah ok never knew that. Yes I am going to call them, do you think they would accept postage applications and return my pp to a hotel as I won't be anywhere near Pretoria when I'm there soon..

I see nothing on their website that mentions mailed in applications.

Add that question to your list.

Exactly my issue.. They just repeat 'extend incountry' but fail to process that extending is impossible without 120 days to do so..

Given up on them no and sourcing my ME from somewhere else for a while.

Can you expand on this?  What is the procedure and timing for extending a Single Entry Non Imm O Visa in Thailand?  Or where can I find them?  I may want to do this soon.

You can apply for a extension of stay during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the non-o visa at your local immigration office.

Basic requirements are here on the immigration website for one based upon marriage.

if you are in and out the country you can enter on a 90 day stamp, get a re-entry permit, leave for work, re-enter using the re-entry permit, get a permission to stay stamp linked to the  original entry and then in the last 30 days of that stamp apply for yearly 'married' extension. could always do 2 or 3 re-entries using a multi re-entry permit to fit in with any travel pattern in and out of Thailand

I believe a re-entry permit will only let you re-enter during the duration of the permission to stay.

Majority of people working off shore are only back in country for limited periods, not enough to wait until last 30 days of a 90 day entry to apply for an extension.

Then definitely not for the "under consideration" period as well.

yes so you use a re-entry permit so some of the 'waiting' time until you can apply is used up while out of the country, ie enter on 1st april get a stamp till 29th june, leave for work with a re-entry permit on the 30 april, re-enter on the 29th may stamped in till 29th june, can then apply on 30th may for yearly extension, with a 30 day under consideration period.  will not work for everyone but could work for some.

You obtain a SE.. Arrive and get a 90 day stamp..

Prepare your docs, photos, money, etc.. Go to immigration in the last 45 days of that stamp and get a 30 day under review stamp while they consider your extension.

I have also, twice in 10 years, had that 30 days extended a second 30 days..

So you need a minimum of 120 days incountry, and twice I had to have 150 days incountry. That simply doesnt fit my work patterns. Easy to say 'take a single and extend'  but for people who dont just sit around watching the flowers grow, thats not always possible.

It wouldnt be so bad if I 'always' went back to england in between.. I could (annoying but still) repeatedly get a single each time, but I dont, I end up all over the place, sometimes my trips home are last minute, with no time for a weeks wait for a visa or from a country where I am not resident etc etc etc..

again doesnt fit my patterns.. while its very variable I try to plan to be out of the country 2 x 100 day chunks.. But at any time in there I might get a week or 10 days spare.. Its just not enough to be incountry ever and just not short enough to return timed with 30 days review..

Do they take your passport during the period the applcation is being assessed?  I have flexibility as to when I travel so could potentially do the process over a couple of visits.

You keep your passport during the 30 day under consideration period and you can get a re-entry period up to the report back date on the stamp you are given,

The longest part of the wait is after getting then needed 90 day entry from a non-o  visa but you can get a re-entry permit to keep it valid when you enter the country,
