taksu
I need to renew my 5 years DL. As I am only going to visit TL quickly this time I would not like to apply for O-visa (expensive, paperwork etc.) but enter the kingdom with 30 days entry stamp. So can I renew my DL only with entry stamp? I've got my yellow book with me too. Nearest land transport office to my home in TL is Chiang Rai. Can I renew the license let's say in Chiang Mai or Phuket or Bangkok? Edited November 9, 2019 by taksu
Popular Post blackcab
You can renew your license, but without a long term extension of stay you will receive a 2 year temporary license. A yellow house book won't make any difference. That's the rule, however as always, some people may find they have a different experience.
taksu
Ok, thanks.. If I'll choose to renew for the temporary license will there be any additional tests when changing back to 5 years license later?

I renewed my 5year Thai DL's for the 3rd time in Suk and they only had photocopy of passport picture ID page, yellow book as proof of address and old DL's. The only thing they got me to do was a colour chart test and watching a 1 hour long movie before they would process the new DL's. As said all DLT's operate different all over Thailand.
