Treatment for BPH and where to buy in BKK?

Any large pharmacy will have it. I can't say re price but in time others may as many members are on this.

 

There is no local generic. Only brands are Uroflow and Harnal OCAS both imported. Imported meds here are always expensive.

Doxadosin seems to do the job for me, but gives me a blocked nose. But that's better than a blocked urethra!

Yes Doxazosin (Cardura and Cardura XL) is one treatment for BPH as is Tamsulosin, but better to speak to a specialist if you are thinking of changing meds.

 

On that note, a friend who is a regular user of Cardura here (in Phuket) has reported that several of the outlets from where he usually gets his supply have said that there is a shortage here and they haven't been able to get it for some time??

1bht/2mg tablet from my local government hospital, I take 5mg/day. 

No side effects at all for me.

I cut down to 1mg per day and my nose is fine.

I went to the govt hospital a couple of years ago with peeing 'changes'. Regular dr said probably BPH so see a 'specialist urologist' Told him the same, no tests, and he said 'Yes I think you have prostate problem' and need medication. Which one? I had been online and had a list of 10 possible meds incl Sonap Forte and Doxadozin. Showed him the list and he pointed to Sonap which I bought at local pharmacy. Within 2 days my nose was blocked like I had a really bad cold. Stopped that one, started Dozadozin 2mg, then down to 1mg. Peeing is a bit better, dependant on consumption of Tappers!

Love reading the leaflet inside any meds, which say for example 'Do not take Doxadozin if you are allergic to Doxadozin or any of the ingredients in the tablet' !   LOL

Thanks for the responses but I want to know the price. I am currently in VN but returning to BKK in a few days and I want to know whether it is better to buy in VN or TH. The price of a generic equivalent in Hanoi is About 800THB for 30 tablets.

Uroflow brand of Tamsulosin is 690 baht at SC Drugs on Rama 4, just past the Crowne Plaza, Silom District, Bangkok. I paid almost the same in Vung Tau, VN, 500,000 VND, I believe (exchange rate worse now). Harnal brand is nearly double that in VN and something like 50% more in Thailand. Some other pharmacies I checked in BKK and Pats were sometimes hundreds of baht more for Uroflow.
