Warrant out for owner of Ya Dong shop in "Extract of Toad" case

 

Police in Chonburi have applied for an arrest warrant for the owner of a Ya Dong (medicinal alcohol) shop owner after four people died from a drink laced with extract of toad. 

 

Three men and one woman have died after being given the drink by Nat, 53, a shop owner in the Samet sub-district of Muang district, Chonburi. 

 

Another person is only alive thanks to being given oxygen and ten more fell grievously ill. 

 

The toad extract was mixed with "lao khao" (white spirits) to make the lethal concoction.

 

Police said they had applied for a warrant for the arrest for Nat, originally from Nakhon Sawan, who faces the prospect of 5 - 20 years in jail, or even a full life term, for adulterating drinks and supplying them to others.
