Uk Fiancee' Visa

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

I preparing the application for UK fianee' visa for my Thai girlfriend, we hope to get marry in UK in next July or August.

The problem is this: how can I make a Evidence of marriage plans including when/where ceremony will take place, if she's not able to give notice of marriage in the Register Office unless she's not in the UK?

Honestly I am confused about that: we have to prove evidence of marriage to get the UK visa but at the same time we can not have it if she's not in the UK.

Can someone give to me a advice?

Thank you !!!!!

Toto.

Some people have previously made a provisional booking at a register office, but this shouldn't be necessary. It should be sufficent for you to know the date you intend to marry, where you are to marry, whether you're going to have a reception, and, if so, how many people will attend etc. Basically, you need to demonstrate that your plans are well advanced.

Hi, I can answer this one as me and the Mrs have literally just completed our 'visit for marriage' visa. My Mum tried to make a booking for us at the local registry office and was denied, she was told be the lady that until Mon had a marriage visit visa or the like and was there in person then no appointment could be made. One of the requirements for the visa was evidence of booking/chirch appointment etc, I ended up e-mailing Kent County Council marriage/birts/deaths department and was in contact with a really helpful lady who is Deputy Kent Superintendent Registrar, she basically said in an e-mail (which I submitted for the application) that it wasn't possible to make the appointment until etc etc and it did the trick as we got the visa and will be getting married in August/September. If your from Kent then I will happily give you the ladies e-mail, if not then check your county councils website as all the information will be there - this is the web address for KCC:

Let me know if you want the ladies e-mail and good luck.

I'm in Bristol and had the same thing.....however when I explained the situation to the register office they sent me a form to complete which is a provisional booking form. This is not notice to marry but just a date in the diary (unconfimed) for the wedding. They then sent me paper confirmation of the provisional date which I submitted with the application. I also included a quote for a wedding photographer and a paragraph about plans for the wedding. This evidence was accepted no problem.

This is because when making the final details, the wife has to answer some questions personally and without prompting.

Can't quite remember the questions, but something like, " Is the marriage of her free will and not of convenience", etc and she has to answer them personally.

She also has to sign her name in English, so it is an idea to practice beforehand.

Good Luck

I called this morning the Croydon Restister Office, I explain to them my situation and they said: I can not give notice or book any wedding if my girlfriend is not here for at least one week. :o

Honestly i don't know how to do

Toto

It's not a requirement of the immigration rules to provisionally book your wedding in advance of the visa application. Just demonstrate that you have wedding arrangements in hand, and this will establish that you do indeed intend to marry. Evidentially, a provisional booking at a register office doesn't demonstrate anything, as it can always be cancelled.

Thank you Scouse.

what do you suggest to me to do?

At the moment I don't have nothing in my hands, just the date 15 september.

I am really confused

Toto

Write in your covering letter that you've got the date set for 15 Sept. and outline your plans. Also, provide evidence of anything in connection with the wedding that you have already booked.

When we handed in our application at the VFS the lady who checked out papers didn't seem surprised that we weren't able to make an appointment, she asked what else we had and when I showed her the e-mails etc there was no problem, don't worry about not having a confirmed date on headed letter paper etc, just show as much as you can to back up the date you have in mind. Try looking on your counties website and mailing the registra.

Good luck
