Popular Post webfact
Explanation demanded from Agriculture Department over chemical ban delay The Department of Agriculture has been ordered to explain, in writing, its sudden about-turn by now asking for an additional six months to offload residual stocks of paraquat, glyphosate and chlorpyrifos. Deputy Agriculture Minister Mananya Thaiseth, who is in charge of the department, said today (Sunday) that she didn’t understand why the committee, tasked with assisting farmers affected by the ban on the three farm chemicals, had sought to extend the deadline. She disclosed that, during a meeting with about 300 officials from the department last Friday, she asked several times whether there will be any problems getting rid of the remaining stocks within the deadline, and was told there would not be. Popular Post unamazedloso
birds, bees and such have returned to my property. We have sugar cane people come in and rent illegally all the land surrounding our property. When the notice of the ban came in they stopped farming because without the chemicals they couldnt grow sugarcane in the bad dirt here which everyone agreed is a good thing. ive seen firsthand the sudden deaths of neighbours from kidney, multiple organ failure and weird cancers. The local hopsitals are blaming this so how in hell can this be extended 6months. They should be tried for murder if they allow this. The country would be better to stop farming like this and basically all for export. Organic farming as my family do works fine but you grow things that are meant to be grown here. easy! 9

It will take six months to get the remaining poison in the ground and profits in pockets!

Harveyg
I thought this had something to do with the USA requesting a delay. Behind closed doors works wonders.
Expat Brad
So, you are a business owner. Before the idea even of a ban, you bought these chemicals to then sell to farmers as part of your business. Now they are banned....... Who then reimburses the business owner for the loss of sales. There must be a government buyback/compensation allowance. Since they banned them. I agree that they should be banned however, it needed to be phased in not just brought in!!!
