A simple question, do I have to return the book?

Are you remaining in Thailand and relocating to another Province ? or are you leaving Thailand ? whats the situation around this? that would enable an appropriate answer.

I am looking for a new place here in the same city but i could change for another province.

I would suggest you hold onto it and update or exchange it as appropriate at the correct time dependent on final location.

So in my case is not mandatory to return the yellow book ????

The yellow book belongs to the house, it lists the persons (foreigners) who are living there. It does not belong to you as person.

So the yellow house book stays with the housemaster/owner. You or the housemaster/owner should remove your name if you no longer live there.

At the present time I still live here and the yellow book is in my hands, the owner knows that I will be leaving the house shortly.

Could the owner remove my name if I am still living in his house?

Only officals at a District Office are allowed to make entries, modifications and deletions in house registration books.

 

When you take up residence at a new address in Thailand, you can apply for a new yellow book for that address at the local District Office and at the same time return the old book.

If he is willing to lie to the amphoe (telling them you moved out, even though you didn't), then he can of course remove your name, the people in the amphoe won't come checking if you really don't live there anymore.

Soon, however, I will leave the house, I am looking for a new accomodation, but i would not like to have problems with the immigration office since I am actually still living here.

I don't really understand what your problem is.

In the last 2 years requesting the retirement visa extension in addition to all the documentation, they wanted to copy the yellow book.

You are not required to have a yellow book, so if they ask if you have one just say no, then they don't want to see it.

They asked me for proof of my residence and the yellow book is rated as a valid document. At the beginning of this month I renewed my driving licenses and also the DLT asked me copy of the yellow book

I don't know, but somehow OP is worried about something happening with the yellow house book and immigration.

Actually, the proof of residence was only requested in 2018 and 2019 by the same female immigration officer.
In the previous 6 years I extended my visa with other officers and they never asked me to show proof of my residence.

However I do no problem giving them a copy of my yellow book, then you know at the immigration office is better to behave in a polite way.

It's very simple. I gave the immigration office my real address.
Now if someone lying, maybe, tells the Amhoe that I am no longer at that address what happens?

Tell them you dont have one. I dont show my yellow book as it is in BKk and my address isn't. You dont have to live at the address your yellow book is at.

When we moved from Phuket where I had a yellow book, we went to the amphur office and they said to return the yellow book and they gave me a paper to give to the new amphur.

 

And here in Kantharalak the amphur made a new yellow book for me when we gave them the paper from Phuket and my wifes blue book from her house here.

For me it is every 6 years for my drivers licence. Last time I used my yellow book from another province, time before, got a  free letter from immigration, time before that used my address on my work permit.

Then you'll get the wrong address on your DL.

When you move out of the place you are in now, you are supposed to register at the new place you move to.

 

The procedure is:

 

 - Take the yellow book to the amphoe office that issued it, along with the 'chao baan'. They will put a stamp in the first page saying "ย้าย" (moved)

 - Take the yellow book to the amphoe office where you will now register your presence, along with the 'chao baan' of the new place. They will issue you a new yellow book registered at your new address.

 

It's best to do these on the same day, but of course that's not always possible.

 

If you forget step 1, they will turn you away at the 'new' amphoe office, telling you to go back to the 'old' amphoe office and get the current book stamped.

 

Total cost the last time I did it was 40 THB.

No, I have my same address as last time, before changing housebook address, and also the same old passport number.
