I called in at the Phetchabun office today to do a 90 day report. Whilst there I managed to get a few minutes with an IO to chat about my retirement extension(O visa) renewal(my 8th) which is due in February 2020 using the 65K a month route, previously I used an embassy letter.

The IO stated she would require a statement from my bank showing 12 months remittances. No problem there since my Bangkok Bank account clearly shows FTT code for the year.

Now I wonder if someone can put me right on the letter format from the bank. I fancy I might need two. 1. the statement and 2. something saying that it is my account. Would I also need my passbook up to date on the day of application?

Are there any templates on the forum for this?

Your help appreciated.

As an aside there was some posts earlier this year saying Phetchabun would not accept the income method in 2020, clearly this is not the case.

The IO also said(in English) I could renew 45 days in advance. I queried this in Thai to make sure what she had told me, she confirmed 45 days(previously 30 days).

1. You will need to request a one year bank statement at the bank. It takes a week to get one at Bangkok Bank for a fee of 200 baht.

2. That will be the standard letter done of confirm your account is valid. Example of one from Bangkok Bank: bank letter.pdf

You should update your bank book on the day you apply get the letter and make a copy of it to submit with your application.

Appreciated. Just to clarify does the letter and update to PB need to happen on the day I apply for the extension i.e bank first followed by immigration.

I just renewed my retirement extension yesterday in Nakhon Phanom using the monthly income method. The head immigration officer that signed and approved my visa told me that I have to switch to the 800 thousand in the bank method in 2020. Because the US embassy is no longer doing the notarized affidavit letter to verify my income.

That is false info. Immigration will still accept transfers into a Thai bank next year.

I assume you are using a Stateside bank. They won't accept monthly income deposited overseas.

As ubonjoe points out, the money has to be deposited into a Thai bank.

Can someone confirm that the statement ubonjoe  mentions should just show the foreign bank transfers received into my BBL acount or do that need to see all my transactions for a year?

My monthly deposits come through the bank of Bangkok New York branch from a direct deposit from the US veterans administration. I presented a sealed letter from the VA to confirm where the money came from.

One might assume that you have a local Bangkok Bank branch account. Have you tried to get them to verify the account?

If they can't, maybe change the direct deposit into your local Bangkok Bank. If SSA can do it, I would imagine the VA can.

I remember the first time, years ago, that I did the extension. The IO said that I needed the 800,000 in the bank. I told her I didn't and to check the law. Her supervisor also was clueless. They checked and I prevailed.

Once since, I was also asked to prove 800,000 in the bank. I didn't and I'm still here.

Maybe Nakhon Phanom doesn't want to do the math!

Won't an updated bank book along with a letter from the bank showing 12 months of FTT deposits along with credit advice letters for each deposit do the same thing as a bank statement that you have to order. Seen example of that letter posted on this forum by others.
