Grusa
My uk bank now insists on having my mobile number, so it can send sms messages for two-factor authentication. My UK bank refuses to send sms messages to an overseas mobile number! I have a Skypein UK number, but it can't accept SMS messages. I have looked a few virtual SMS services, some say they cannot be used for 2FA. Does anyone have any experience using these for this purpose? My particular interest is in Nationwide and Bank of Scotland/Halifax.
Langsuan Man
Is Google Voice available to you in the UK ? If so, that is a work around I use for US Banks and their insistence that you own a text enabled cell phone for banking
Eindhoven
Just obtain a UK SIM. It's not difficult for a friend or family member to send one over. Alternatively; https://www.giffgaff.com/freesim-international
