Hi,
I am living in Thailand since 20 years straight, been last time on a holiday in Germany 10 years ago and made some holidays in Sri Lanka and US a couple of years ago.
What i want to know is.
I am planning to fly to Germany this year for a couple of month may be from March to September.
My Retirement Visa ends in early January and istead of making a new one here with a single entry to fly to Germany and back and having only 4 month left before i come back from Europe and have to make it again, I thought i can do it in Germany too. Did it 10 years ago, very friendly staff in Berlin Embassy of Thailand and smooth procedure.
My question now is,- can i ride to Penang or KL, making a normal TOURIST VISA with a single entry which is giving me 3 month more time in the Kingdom, before i fly in March to Germany anyways??

I mean, will i get a tourist Visa in KL or Penang after a Retirement Visa (married since 20years to my lovely Thaiwife)

sry for my English, i am trying hard, if you not understand, pls ask

Your previous entry/exit under a retirement extension will be in their database. You may run the risk of being accused of "using the wrong visa" by any Immigration officer that decides to ask you questions and you mention having a Thai wife. If that happened, they may suggest a Non-O for visiting a Thai spouse/dependent that can be turned into a extension based on marriage with financial qualification. However, I don't see them denying your entry on a one-off tourist visa.

I would focus on whether KL or Penang have any history of being difficult in issuing a tourist visa when presented with a passport that shows previous entries and long-stay on retirement extension. I don't recall reading about anyone with your specific circumstances being given a hard time but some embassy's and consulate's are easier than others. Someone with fresh knowledge and experience should be able to advise here.

As for getting a visa easily in Berlin 10 years ago, that has probably changed as has the ease of getting visas that permit longer or multiple stays from a regional Thai embassy or consulate. Maybe ask on some German-language forums for up-to-date experiences by fellow countrymen in obtaining a visa to stay in Thailand longer term?

Viel Glück

Thanks for your Reply NanLaew and pleeeease leave me alone with any German forum regarding Thailand ???????? ... its constantly fighting in there, so for really important questions i prefer since 20 years good old ThaiVisa Forum.

I just have a new PP since 6month i just remember so actually there is only one Retirement Visa in, but they have it in their database anyways.
Will check KL or Penang then, even when Penang was never sure about anything, they change often like they want, at least they did it some years ago.

I btw, just checked the ThaiEmbassys page of BERLIN yesterday and its still looking good there, They didnt even mention the 400k in account like the Embassy in S´pore does.

have a great weekend

Hi,

Are there specific reasons that you do not want to apply at your local IO for a 1 year extension of stay from your original Visa?

Normally that should be much easier and less hassle than applying for a Single-Entry Tourist Visa in a neighboring country and later applying in Germany for a new Non Imm O Visa.

Also: You write that you have a retirement Visa and are married to a thai national.  So what is the original Visa you applied with at your local IO (Non Imm OA or Non Imm O)?  And what was the reason for extension (retirement or marriage)?

Why do you not just keep your retirement extensions current with a multple reentry  & plan your trips away

around the requirement to be here to extend ?

specific reasons?  yes, read and try to understand what i wrote!
i am planning to go to Germany for at least 6-8 month,  so pls let me know why i should pay much money (in case i dont have 400k in my account like all the rich English are having) if i come back in Oct or November, having again a 1year Visa finishing in 2 month and pay again??
The reason for the Tourist Visa is i dont want go NOW in JANUARY to Germany but in March!

A new one year Visa from January 2020 will be expire in January 2021 right?
I am planning to stay until October 2020 in another country, from October 2020 to January 2021..when the new 1year Visa will be finished, is just 2 month... Tell me why it make sense to you to apply now for another 1 year Visa here and not in Germany in October

With that attitude you don't deserve any help with your request.

So go figure it out yourself.

why didn't you just say you did not have the money for a yearly visa, in that case you can do a non immigrant 'O' visa visit Thai wife either single or multi entry, no financials required, or you can do a 60 day visit Thai wife extension at local immigration which will take you from Jan to march.

Mmmm... so much for asking.... but anyway, if you already have a visa and choose to let it expire, whilst planning to renew later... good luck. I would not. I would jump back in and out if timing doesn’t suit returning, just to renew the existing visa.

the beauty (or not) of tit.... its “up to you”
