Sending item with battery outside thailand?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I need to send my laptop from Bangkok to my home country outside of Thailand , normal Thai post do now allow items that have battery inside to be posted with them - so they declined me, checked DHL but the price was crazy expensive (7500 baht)

do I have any other options?

Thanks in advance!

if you are prepared to use the slow way, they let me send stuff with batteries with the boats which took like 2 months to get to Canada for me (i forgot the name of the service)

you could also disassemble and remove the battery, depends if you are just sending it home to yourself of someone else

to be honest the thai post office is unusually strict with stuff like this, i tried to send a video card home once they said no because battery, i told there there is no battery in there

he went back and came back with something about no strong magnets (don't think there are any in there too tbh) ?  I just went to a different post office and they didn't say a word and just sent it.

Your only option is courier services - DHL/FedEx/UPS etc.

Postal services will reject any items with even the smallest battery inside them -

even musical greeting cards.

I guess removing the power-supply battery may not solve the problem as they could still reject it due to the CMOS battery on the motherboard, but that would be way over-the-top, IMO.

If sending it without the main battery is an option, though, I replaced my Lenovo T430 battery recently with an aftermarket one for around $45 CAD delivered, so if the laptop is a decent or high-end one, that approach may be feasible.
