OP, I don't think your options are not simple if continue the ed visa route.

If you were to obtain setv in USA enter Los then later try to obtain an ed visa you most likely would find it difficult. A member few months back tried for setv in Saigon after having an ed visa. His pp was returned with the red void stamp. Granted he had longer history in Los than you. He also had used his 2 border entries.

I would fly into Thailand. Obtain 30 day visa exempt. That can be extended and you would still have your 2 border entries for 2020. That gives you 6 months

I have a flight booked 30 days after my arrival going to Phnom Penh. Will this be acceptable for visa exemption?

I would contact the Thai embassy/consulate nearest you in the U.S., you might still be able to obtain a multiple entry on your original VISA, or you can re-apply, it may be easier there to obtain the

  • You probably will not be able to get one there or Vientiane.   Neither of those location would be a good choice.  Perhaps the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam would be a better

Yes it will. Since you have already booked it this next bit is for future similar situation. The airline in most cases will accept an onward flight within 60 days if you explain that you intend to extend your ve entry by 30 days. If rejected you could book cheap ticket online. They are happy with screenshot of confirmed flight.

Back to you..... Since you have a booked flight have print out (hard copy). Would not hurt having some booked accom. Get ones that allow cancellation. Money of course. Not plastic.

Don't wish to worry you but certainly things have changed at DM. Flew in from Hanoi to DM on Tuesday. The guy with imm officer to my right was getting grilled. No visa. The io was basically asking him his detailed travel plans. Obviously I could only hear bits and pieces. Point is the guy rattled off various details. He got stamp.

OP where are you flying into Thailand?

Based on how you said the immigration officer was grilling the man you were next to. What should I say is my reason for coming back into Thailand? To finish my class?

I work on idea "less is best". Some very experienced guys on Thaivisa (better informed than me) talk about "visit the gf" etc etc. I'm the opposite.

For me it would be having clear plans to show io. Keep in mind the language barrier. If asked about the ed visa (you won't be) I would say ....Thai language too hard. I want holiday tourist then back work USA....something like that. I would not say "to complete language course". You don't have valid ed visa and frankly doubt you would obtain another. Other members will have different advice.

Chill. You will be fine.
