Man Dies From Leg Shot Wound

A speeding motorcyclist was shot in the leg as a warning but unfortunately died since he had lost too much blood.

On 1st April the Banglamung Police were informed by Banglamung Hospital that a Thai man was brought in; Mr. Saroj Ruengrit, aged 20, for treatment with a very serious condition since he was shot in the leg and lost a lot of blood. He died not long after.

The police went to inspect the body and found that the bullet had exploded and made a very large exit wound which caused him to lose so much blood.

The deceased man’s elder sister told the police that she works with her brother at a construction site.

Usually he hangs around with his friends in Rong Poh area. He loves motorbike races and races around with his friends. However, he has never had problems with anyone before. He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke and is single so she doesn’t know why or who shot him.

The police think that maybe some of his motorbike challengers wanted revenge and shot him but more investigation is ongoing.

A rather different view is expressed about 'this clean-living man' in the Pattaya City News:

SOURCE Pattaya City News: April 2nd 2007

Young man killed in Banglamung in possible gang-related shooting.

Another shooting now from Banglamung Hospital which took place on Sunday. Police Sub-Lieutenant Prasit from Banglamung Police Station was assigned to the case which left a 20 year old man dead. Khun Sarort, who works as a builder in Sriracha, had sustained a single gun to his leg which caused massive blood loss and subsequently killed him.

His grieving sister, Khun Ermporm aged 23 explained that her brother was a member of a local gang and at around 7pm on Sunday Night, two men dropped the critically injured victim at a constructor’s camp site where the pair live and work.

Both men were not known by the sister but she was told that he had been shot somewhere in the Banglamung area but no further details of the shooting were given. She summoned medical assistance but it was too late and the young man was pronounced dead on arrival at Hospital.

We understand that the young man was disliked by local residents because of his persistent anti-social behavior. Police believe that an aggrieved local gang member or resident undertook the shooting and the investigation continues based on this assumption.
