' Out On Strike '

Featured Replies

Does anybody know how to translate 'Out on Strike' or 'to take industrial action'.

I am unable to find a good translation in my dictionary

ออกมาหยุดงานประท้วง = to strike

...so sayeth Oxford River Books English - Thai... there should be a better option.

I distinctly remember having heard the English word 'strike' used as a loan (with high tone and silent final), but I am not sure how it is spelt.

I, too, have heard Thais use the English loan word. I've just asked the missus for a spelling, and she's ventured สไตร์.

Scouse.

The correct spelling in Thai is สไตร๊ค์

Spelling never was her forte :o

Indeed ! ...transliterated 'sadtor' is not quite the same as 'sadtorike' !!

I think you'll find it reads sa-dt®ai, and what Yoot has added reads sa-dt®ai(k). There's no sara oh in there. :o

Here are a couple suggestions:

นัดหยุดงาน

นัดทิ้งงาน

Literally, would be "an appointment (commitment) to stop work, or, to throw off work."

The UTF-8 data stream got disassociated from its content labelling!
