spiekerjozef
Hamilton's wage is 57 mln us dollars a year (that is only his wage, without sponsor money, advertisement money etc) 500,000 dollars is less then 1% of that amount. So if average US Joe earns 25,000 dollars in a year and he gives 1% of his wage for the australian bushfires, that would be 250 us dollars. So why is Hamilton in the news for his lousy contribution?? Because it became a PR exercise, somebody close to him told the press, he could have kept it quite. Guess everybody that donates to a "charity" or good cause should also make an announcement in the press every-time they do so! Doubtless tax deductible also, though he does try to avoid paying taxes (which I don't blame him for in the slightest.)
