Which countries in SEA don't blame westerners for everything?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Currently residing in Lopburi, after the horrific shooting yesterday - I feel a bit shook as I frequent that mall. I was also disturbed to see on social media and other platforms that most people currently believe the culprit is a foreigner not a Thai person (downside of being able to read Thai) due to his physique and the way he walks... because Thai people can't be muscular, right?!

Anyway, is there any country in SEA that does not blame foreigners for almost every crime that happens? Or is there a way to unlearn Thai so I am not exposed to this nonsense?

When something as horrible as this people like to think that it could not be them and that some others must have done it,

Farangs blame Thais for all their bad choices, Thais blame foreigners , trump blames Mexicans, Brits blame Romanians etc.

Not an Asian, not a Western, simply a human reaction.  But don't let me rain on your parade. Have fun.

That's interesting, apparently some people put some trust in social media.

Everything was going fine for me. I played varsity baseball, run track, had my video games, and in spite  of all my mother warnings I was not going blind.

Until I got laid, and said "Wow this is good, I need to get more of that:tongue:

Taiwan

As this isn't visa related I'm moving the topic to the pub.

Now i understand how lucky i was.

One elder sister was enough to give me a really hard time in those which could have been my best years.

Back on topic, it could be safe to say that behind every bad man stands a bad woman.

Unless we  are walking through a minefield in which case we should let them walk far ahead.

Everybody (people, races, countries, etc.) need someone to blame. And Jews are mostly on top of every list. Human stupidity.

you can go to your mall in lopburi... odds say that it will not happen in the same place twice...

It’s not just Thailand that blames things on foreigners. Lots of other countries do the same, for example UK and USA. Scapegoating is very popular.

I STILL feel safer in Thailand than in my home country. That’s not to say I’m not aware of dangers here, but on the topic of being attacked there’s more chance of it happening back home.

North Korea, or Micronesia.

Attacked by drunk football hooligans would be the UK.

Attacked by crack heads more the US of A.

It's always bad to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, said the lottery winner on his dream holiday, right after he started a world journey.

After a walk at the beach, he wanted to rest and sat under a coconut tree. But he didn't hear the coconut falling.

Adios Dude!!   If you believe in Thai gossip you are as good as gone anyway... Also I live immersed in Thai society and have not heard a word of this pure gossip.  What I hear is a military man out of Lopburi itself being that its loaded with military barracks.

Is ThaiVisa considered social media?

Oops, don't answer, I won't believe you????

Ghetto? Not sure if or how to respond to that

I'm afraid most countries suffer atrocities from time to time, and blaming foreigners for them is not unusual.

Just avoid the gold shop, Thais love gold too much.

No reason to expect a repeat of the terrible Lopburi shooting and no reason to avoid the place. Terrible killings can happen in any city but the chances of getting caught up in such events is tiny in this country.

Very stupid thread question.

Thai people not care/think about/ interest/talk about “westerners” much.

Thai intersted/care about there family, friends, neighbors, pets more than “westerners”

Sorry, you not important like you imagine yourself.

In your home country, people talk about Thai people every day? Or not?

Q “Which countries in SEA dont blame westerners for everything”

A  Every SEA country.

But not most of the lists in Asia.

Not those of the 2.75 billion Indians/Chinese combined (in a total of 4.46 billion Asians).

Definitely not on the Thai list.......do you think they know/care about Judaism?

Even including "dissatisfied" Islamics (Islamic antipathy due to Israels establishment and its behaviour, not Jews per se) and S.America, the demographic for "those most likely to think harshly of Jews" is the minority.

ie. USA/Euro pop combined is only 1.7billion.

The future is Cappuccino coloured (and not especially anti-Jewish).

Actually the Thai media and all of the Thai people I know are shocked at the violence displayed by this person.  No one that I know are talking about foreigner involvement.

Acording to the media- the perpetrator had probable weapons training as well as his gait was almost military.  But why start shooting- most robbers grab as much gold as possible within a few minutes, yet this person  didn't  - The police are working on a theory that the gunmen may have been out for revenge against someone.

What happened is highly unusual- scary for sure- but let's not over react.
