Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that his government wants to see Thailand and the Thai people of all ages make progress toward democracy together and be free of conflict.

He reminded Thai children and adults alike of the importance of national unity, the need for all to know their duties and responsibilities as good citizens and of not taking advantage of one another.

The Prime Minister, this morning (Saturday), chaired the formal opening of the National Children’s Day celebration at the Ministry of Education, under the theme of “Wonderful Kids: Smart Thai Children”.

  • The #1 law-breaking, constitution-violating person in the country is lecturing people on doing the right thing? He's either totally retarded or on drugs. He is most definitely obtuse in the extreme. ?

  • A very good start would be a democratically (i.e. not rigged) voted in parliament, and senate.

  • Does he actually understand the definiton of "democracy"? It begins with open FREE elections, not loading the Senate with sychophants and not driving the opposition out because they disagree with

Another day, more bull$#!t. Of course you can achieve peace, just make sure you have enough money in the defense budget and can kill for peace, and that other much touted word "democracy", really, who buys this rubbish, are people really that stupid, well i guess they are as the D word is rolled out so often although the other D word that cant be uttered is so much more appropriate. I wish I could find pity for you all but it escapes me!

The army should only be there for securing peace in a democracy, not ensuring power.

Is his theme song "The Great Pretender"?

It seems that your attitude is somewhat set against Thailand and the way it's run. You appear to dislike anything Thai or anything the government does to help the Thai people with agricultural projects, new schools, hospitals and infrastructure.

If it's such a bad place why waste your time living here.  Life is too short to have to put up with staying somewhere you hate, why not try the Philippines or Cambodia.

There are plenty of other places you can look at without waking up each day and having so much hate instilled in your day. Your adding of emoticons such as this one only solidifies this hatred.

Be happy each day .... not sad ... ????

Is he implying that they currently don't have democracy?

Thailand continues to move forward with the government fast tracking dozens of infrastructure projects as well as many other initiatives to support rural communities.

This government has done more within the last 4 years than the previous government tried to do in 10 years.  Well done Thailand  !  well done Khun Prayut Chan O Cha ....  PM of Thailand.

It does  seem to  be an admission. Abandoned the concept  the  current Govt. is the  result of a democratic election?

More toxic hypocrisy from the general who pointed weapons at his own people...in order to hijack their government and steal their country.

Remember in his early days he was referring to "Thai style democracy". i.e a kind of democracy restricted to an inner core of the 10000 largest (OLD) fortunes of the Kingdom.

The electronics company in London, or the Irish professional rugby league footballer?

That would kinda imply that even HE believes his pseudo democracy ISN'T what the free world believes democracy is OR to his wish to convert everyone to HIS version of democracy ?

Thank you general. Who says we don't have democracy?  Today we have seen, heard and listen to our general saying it without mixing his words.
