Rome bans all diesel cars in battle to curb pollution

Featured Replies

Yes great idea to ban all cars  in cities (we have a hybrid which is electric at slow speeds i.e. in town) but an historical note - the arrival of the motor car in the early 20th century in London was deemed to be be a wonderful thing - no more pollution from horse manure - which was a major problem, people (who could afford them) used over-shoes to protect themselves from all that kack. Cars were seen as a fantastic way "to end pollution".

More public transport will. Without the tube, London is at a standstill.   What freedom or choice? Freedom to pollute ourselves to death? Choice to sit in a traffic jam wasting petrol?

Cars in cities are a plague. It's long past time to ban all private cars, in cities.

  • Quite well actually. When the private cars are removed from the roads, there is plenty of space for other methods of travel.

And ban all aircraft and ships! Yeah those Luddites knew a thing or two!

Complete deflection.

You know very well I was talking about private cars in cities.

Too many selfish people on the planet that don't care about the greater good as long as they can do whatever they want for pollution to end any time soon.

BTW, I've said it before, ban all air travel for holidays ( and attending climate conferences- that would be good too- it's like they never heard of teleconferencing ).
