The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (January 15) that a high-pressure system remains over the Northeast of the country and the South China Sea while the westerly trough at high altitude still blows cold air from the Himalayas to the North and the upper Northeast. The mornings will be cool to cold with possible isolated patchy fog in the North and the Northeast.

The department also mentioned that the southeasterly winds prevailing across the Central and the East would bring thundershowers. The easterly winds still prevail across the Gulf with less rain possible in the South.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool to cold with fog in the morning and thick patches in some areas, temperature lows of 13-22 degrees Celsius and highs of 30-35 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 4-12 degrees on hilltops.

Northeastern region: Cool weather with fog in the morning, temperatures lows of 16-21 degrees Celsius and highs of 32-34 degrees Celsius.

Temperature likely to drop to 9-15 degrees on hilltops.

Central region: Partly cloudy with fog in the morning and isolated thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-24 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-36 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Cloudy with isolated thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 21-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 32-34 degrees Celsius; waves lower than a metre high.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 22-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 31-35 degrees Celsius; waves about a metre high.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 22-26 degrees Celsius, highs of 32-35 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 24-26 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-35 degrees Celsius.

There will be no rain in the central part of Thailand, unless they mean mountainous areas, until Sunday. Poor forecast as usual. The weather department hadn't predicted the heavy rainfall that happened in early hours of Monday in Western Bangkok and Nonthaburi. It brought more than 60 mm of rain in some places. There was no forecast whatsoever about this event. It shows how difficult to predict with precision and how clueless they are.
