Building bridges? MP proposes that one to Koh Samui be named "Chan O-cha Bridge"!

Featured Replies

Bridge to Koh Samui? There goes the neighbourhood. Bumper to bumper traffic with Chinese buses.

If they do name it, name it after Kobkarn, The Destroyress of Thailand. She deserves it.

  • Someone's getting a pat on the head and lollipop. Good boy!

  • And by unanimous vote, the committee decided to go with a bridge of the General’s own personal design. He's been working on it for months....and he's almost finished.

This bridge has as much chance of being built as the Kra Isthmus Canal and the HST rail between Bangkok & Chiang Mai.

There is serious drought, major water & other serious problems in Thailand without thinking about this folly to transport hundreds of thousands of tourists to an overcrowded, already spoiled, island.

Unlike Brexit, it ain't gonna happen.

He said there were precedents - Pote Sarasin (an acting PM in the 1950s) had one between Phangnga and Phuket named after him just as soon as he came into office.

And one (in Songkhla in the south) had been named after former 1980s Thai PM and Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanond who died last year.

So why not Lung Too or Uncle Too, too.

I tell you why not Mister: Because Sarasin-bridge in Phuket is of 660m length, and even the mentioned millau bridge in france is "only" 2460m, while (realistic) distance between Samui and mainland is at least 20km... But maybe a street-crossing bridge somwhere in the outskirts of KhonKaen could be named after Big Too

Invest in a company selling spray cans of paint!  Best target I have heard for someone to paint something over the name.

Maybe a tunnel or just cheaper flights.
